1..World’s Largest Cargo Plane Coming to Hyderabad, India on 14th May 2016
 

The world's largest cargo aircraft, Antonov AN-225 Mriya - or the Dream, landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad.

The wide body aircraft is powered by six turbofan engines and is the longest and heaviest airplane ever built, with a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tonnes.

2.Kumble reappointed as ICC Cricket Committee head

Former India captain Anil Kumble was re-appointed ICC Cricket Committee chairman for a second term of three years while his one-time team-mate and batting great Rahul Dravid was named member of the top panel.

Kumble, the all-time highest wicket-taker for India, who was appointed as the chairman for his first term in 2012, will now continue to head the panel until 2018.

Meanwhile, another former India captain Dravid and ex-Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene have been appointed to the ICC Cricket Committee, adding even more cricketing experience to the list of eminent people already on the panel.

Dravid and Jayawardene have played 1,161 international matches between them from 1996 to 2015, and each has been appointed for a three-year term.

3.Spain coach del Bosque receives award for work with disabled

The Adalid peace, freedom and solidarity award, presented by the town of La Albuera, was bestowed this year on Spain football team coach Vicente del Bosque for his work in defending people with disabilities.

Del Bosque guided Spain to their maiden World Cup glory in 2010 and also helped them successfully defend the European championship in 2012. He is also a Real Madrid legend both as a footballer as well as a coach.


4.Cabinet approves National Intellectual Property Rights Policy 

The Union Cabinet approved the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy that will lay the future roadmap for intellectual property in India. The Policy recognises the abundance of creative and innovative energies that flow in India, and the need to tap into and channelise these energies towards a better and brighter future for all.

The National IPR Policy is a vision document that aims to create and exploit synergies between all forms of intellectual property (IP), concerned statutes and agencies. It sets in place an institutional mechanism for implementation, monitoring and review. It aims to incorporate and adapt global best practices to the Indian scenario. This policy shall weave in the strengths of the Government, research and development organizations, educational institutions, corporate entities including MSMEs, start-ups and other stakeholders in the creation of an innovation-conducive environment, which stimulates creativity and innovation across sectors, as also facilitates a stable, transparent and service-oriented IPR administration in the country.

The Policy recognizes that India has a well-established TRIPS-compliant legislative, administrative and judicial framework to safeguard IPRs, which meets its international obligations while utilizing the flexibilities provided in the international regime to address its developmental concerns. It reiterates India’s commitment to the Doha Development Agenda and the TRIPS agreement.

5.National Stock Exchange appoints Ashok Chawla as chairman
 


Ashok Chawla, the former chief of fair trade regulator CCI, has become the chairman of the National Stock Exchange.

Capital market watchdog SEBI has approved the appointment and Chawla's tenure as chairman would be till March 27, 2019.

6.Barack Obama Appoints Indian-American To Key Administration Post


US President Barack Obama has appointed an Indian-American engineer to a key administration post.

Manjit Singh, co-founder of the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund has been appointed as the member of President's Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

7.Nirankari sect head Baba Hardev Singh Died in Canada



Spiritual leader and Nirankari sect head Baba Hardev Singh died in a car accident in Canada.

He was the chief priest of the Sant Nirankari Mission. His father Gurbachan Singh was the previous Satguru of the Sant Nirankari Mission
