1. N K Singh gets Japan's second highest national award
The prestigious 'The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star' award was conferred on Singh by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a glittering ceremony at the Imperial Palace.
Bureaucrat-turned-politician N K Singh was honoured with Japan's second highest national decoration for his contribution in strengthening Indo-Japan ties in the field of trade and investment over last few decades.
2.India and Mauritius signed DTAA
India and Mauritius have signed the much awaited protocol amending the double tax avoidance arrangement between the two countries. The protocol provides for grandfathering of investments and the revised position shall only be applicable to investments made on or after April 1, 2017.
3. Department of Post releases Western Union 'My Stamp'
Western Union 'My Stamp' was released to mark 15 years of collaboration between the money transfer service provider and India Post.
This is the first time that the Department of Post has released 'My Stamp' to commemorate a milestone with a multinational corporation.
4. New chief justices in Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan
Justice TinlianthangVaiphei of the Guwahati High Court will be the new acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
He will replace Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Gupta, who has been transferred as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
An official release of union law ministry said that Justice Navin Sinha, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court has been moved as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
5. Brazil's Petrobras, China EximBank ink 1-bln-USD credit facility
Brazil's state oil firm Petrobras signed a preliminary deal with the Export-Import Bank of China (China EximBank) on a 1-billion-U.S. dollar loan.
6.Obama honours Indian-American teacher
An Indian-American woman elementary teacher Revathi Balakrishnan from Texas has been honored by US President Barack Obama at the White House for her excellent work in the field of education. Revathi Balakrishnan, a teacher at Patsy Sommer Elementary School, was also named 2016 'Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year'.
7. RBI to issue Rs 1000 notes with the inset letter ‘R’ in both the number panels.
The Reserve Bank of India will soon issue Rs 1000 denomination banknotes with the inset letter ‘R’ in both the number panels.
The banknotes will also have on the obverse, all the other security features, including ascending size of numerals, bleed lines and enlarged identification mark as well as the signature of RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
These banknotes will also have the year of printing ‘2016’ printed on the reverse.
The design of these banknotes notes to be issued is similar in all respects to the Rs 1000 banknotes in circulation. All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 1000 issued by RBI in the past will continue to be legal tender.
