Indian and Pakistani armies fought the Kargil War in May-July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LoC).
OPERATION BADR
During February 1999, the Pakistan Army began to re-occupy the posts it had abandoned on its side of the LOC in the Kargil region.Also they sent their army also to capture some of the post of indian army.
They named this operation to their post back as operation Badr.
MOTIVE
Pakistan's main motive behind the war was to capture the national highway -1 which was the only way to connect Ladakh to kashmir.Through this pakistan wanted to force india to talk about the Disputed land of kashmir and take this matter to international level.
KARGIL WAR (MAY-JULY 1999)
MAY,1999 As soon as indian army get to know about pakistans infiltration in the kargil sector ,government of india launched operation VIJAY.War continued to about two month.
On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intruders. The Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days, ended on 26 July and resulted in the loss of life on both sides, India and Pakistan.
