1. Lucknow to host Junior Hockey World Cup 

 
The Capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow will host this year's FIH Junior Men's Hockey World Cup.

The FIH Junior World Cup will be held between December 8 and December 18 and would be the first international hockey competition to be hosted in Lucknow.

Junior World Cup was one of the most prestigious tournament and best 16 teams of the world would participate in it.

The countries that will participate in the Junior World Cup, include hosts India, Argentina, Autralia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, England, Pakistan, Germany, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa and Spain.

2. Shuttlers Chong Wei, Tai Tzu bag singles titles at Indonesia Open 


 
Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei won the men's and women's singles title respectively in the Indonesia Open.

Chong Wei came from behind to beat Danish fifth seed Jan Jorgensen 17-21, 21-19, 21-17 in an hour and 13 minutes for his sixth Indonesia Open crown.

In the women's singles contest, Tai stunned former world champion Yihan Wang of China 21-17, 21-8 in just 34 minutes at the landmark badminton stadium of Istora Senayan.

In the mixed doubles final, Chinese pair of Xu Chen and Ma Jin successfully defended their title as they defeated South Korean Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na 21-15, 16-21, 21-13 in 58 minutes.

3. Nestle, Alibaba upgrade partnership to tap Chinese consumption potential 


 
The world's largest food retailer Nestle and Chinese E-commerce Company Alibaba announced their partnership to increase online selling. Under this initiative, Nestle will launch its biggest e-commerce campaign ever with its diverse products, spanning 30 brands from coffee to baby formula, being sold on Alibaba's expansive e-commerce platforms such as Tmall.

4. Black economy shrinking, still exceeds Thailand's GDP: Ambit Capital 


 
Pegging India's 'black economy' at over Rs 30 lakh crore or about 20 per cent of total GDP , a new study of Ambit Capital Research says that black economy has been contracting gradually over the years but still remains bigger than the overall economic size of countries like Thailand and Argentina .

5. India jumps 13 positions to rank 2nd on GRD index on ease of doing business: Study 


 
According to 2016 Global Retail Development Index (GRDI), India has jumped 13 positions from last year to rank second among 30 developing countries this year on ease of doing business. China has been placed at first place in this report.

6. Dia Mirza named ambassador for 'Swachh Saathi' programme 



Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has been named the ambassador for Swachh Bharat Mission's youth-based 'Swachh Saathi' (student internship) programme.

The "Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein" star will take forward the message of the government's 'Swachh Saathi' programme, which she hails as the most important part to realise the dream of a clean country.

Under the Swachh Saathi programme, more than 2,000 interns would be enrolled, who would coordinate with around 10,000 schools across the country and ensure that all students in these schools take the pledge for Clean India.

7. V Narayanasamy sworn-in as Puducherry Chief Minister 


 
Former Union Minister V Narayanasamy swears in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry. Five Congress legislators also sweared in as ministers alongwith Narayanaswamy.

Narayanasamy had served as Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office in the second UPA government after serving as MoS Parliamentary Affairs in UPA-I.

Congress - DMK alliance has 17 members in the 30 member Territorial Assembly.

8. India, Qatar sign pact for skill development



India and Qatar have signed an agreement to forge cooperation in skill development and facilitate mobility of workers from India to the gulf nation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Sunday.

Under the pact, Qatar will specify the areas in which it requires manpower and India will provide skill development to its nationals in those very areas before they go to the gulf country, an official said on Monday.

The agreement was signed between Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (India) and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (Qatar).

It aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries on skill development and mutual recognition of qualifications to facilitate mobility of skilled workers from the Republic of India to the state of Qatar, an official release said.
