1. Kohli, Dhoni the only cricketers in ESPN's World Fame 100
ESPN released the list of top 100 global sports personalities. Real Madrid's superstar Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list. Kohli is No. 8 while Dhoni is No. 13 in the list of ESPN world fame 100 ranking. Apart from this Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is also included in this list, she is at No. 41.
The rankings for current sportspersons were based on a formula devised by Ben Alamar, ESPN's director of sports analytics; it combined salary and endorsements with social media following and Google search popularity.
The list was led by Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's top-earning footballer. Only LeBron James, the American basketball star, separated Ronaldo from fellow footballers Lionel Messi and Neymar, who both play for FC Barcelona, La Liga rivals of Ronaldo's Real Madrid. Tennis legend Roger Federer completed the top five.
2. India, Tunisia Sign 2 Agreements In IT, Handicrafts Sectors
In an effort to increase mutual cooperation, India and Tunisia signed two MoUs on promotion of handicrafts and IT and communication and digital economy as Vice President Hamid Ansari met Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid and discussed a range of issues of mutual and regional interests.
India will also train 350 Tunisian students in next five years, Mr Ansari said adding "We will be happy to receive 350 Tunisian students for training in our institutions in different streams as our guests over the next five years".
3. India drops one place to 163rd in FIFA rankings
Indian football team slipped one place to occupy 163rd position in the latest FIFA rankings.
India is one place behind Myanmar among the Asian countries at 29th place.
Iran and Korea are the two highest ranked teams in Asia, at 39th and 50th respectively.
Argentina and Belgium are occupying the number one and two spot respectively.
4. The Unseen Indira Gandhi authored by Dr KP Mathur released
A new book The Unseen Indira Gandhi authored by Dr KP Mathur has been released. Dr KP Mathur was personal physician of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for nearly 20 years till her assassination in 1984.
The Book was published by Konark Publishers.
The book provides some interesting peeps into the responses of Mrs Gandhi’s to challenges both personal and political.
The foreword of the book was written by her granddaughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
5. India joins ballistic missile proliferation regime Hague Code of Conduct
India joined global ballistic missile proliferation regime Hague Code of Conduct (HCoC).
The HCoC is a voluntary, legally non-binding international confidence building and transparency measure that seeks to prevent the proliferation of ballistic missiles that are capable of delivering weapons of mass destruction.
6. BSNL partners Hitachi to facilitate bill payment via ATM
State-run firm BSNL announced partnership with Hitachi Payment Services for facilitating round-the-clock phone bill payment through ATM.
With these ATMs in place, customers will be able to pay their bill during any time of the day.
Under the partnership, Hitachi's ATMs will be installed in all major customer service centers of BSNL. BSNL will provide free space in its premises to Hitachi to install and maintain ATMs.
BSNL customers will be able to pay their bills through these ATMs.
