Wishing everyone HappyDussehra

Hello Readers,

On this auspicious occasion we wish the colour and beauty of this festival be throughout the year.

The name Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit word Dasha-hara which means Dashanan ravan. This occasion is quiet popular festival which is celebrated across India. On this auspicious occasion of Vijayadashmi devotees worship Goddess Shakti, who was incarnated in the form of Goddess Durga.

Goddess Durga is believed to have divine energies of the Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh with which she defeated the mighty demon Mahishasura. Vijayadashami is derived from Vijay which means victory and Dashmi means the tenth day. The festival signifies victory of good over evil.

Dussehra is celebrated in the victory of Lord Rama who defeated demon Ravana and rescued his abducted wife Goddess Sita. Devotees make huge effigies of Ravana in India and burn it symbolizing victory of good over evil.

People also enact scenes from Ramayana staging final moments of the battle. The effigy is generally burnt by the actor playing role of Lord Rama who shoots an arrow with a flaming tip. Music and dance are integral part of the celebrations on Dussehra
