The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Centre will honour five Indian-American Malayalees for their outstanding achievements and service to the society.
"Kerala Centre has been honouring outstanding achievers since 1991 and every year we invite nominations and the committee has to make a unanimous choice for a candidate in a category to be selected to receive the award and this year is no different from previous years in terms of their achievements," said Kerala Centre board member and trustee Thomas Abraham.
The honorees will be honoured at the Kerala Centres 23rd Annual Awards Banquet on November 5 in New York.
The honorees include Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary for Global Markets and Director General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service Arun M Kumar, who leads the trade and investment promotion efforts of the US Government and Ram Menon, a Partner at KPMG for corporate leadership.
Other honorees include Jay Radhakrishnan, professor of Medicine at Columbia University and Clinical Chief of the Nephrology Division at the New York Presbyterian Hospital in Medicine, T V RajanBabu, Professor and Kimberly Chair in Chemistry at Ohio State University in Applied Sciences and Manohar Thomas, a Malayalam writer and community activist who has been very active for over 30 years in promoting Malayalam language and literature of Kerala in US for Promoting Literary Work and Community Service.
Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh felicitated the Indian Army team which has achieved the Gold standards in the grueling Cambrian Patrol.
The team of two officers and nine soldiers of 2nd Battalion 8th Gorkha Rifle led by Captain Nikhil Nikam had participated in the Exercise conducted in Wales, UK.
Suhag complimented the team for the professionalism displayed by each member and awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card to the team member.
Cambrian Patrol is a grueling exercise which involves negotiating difficult terrain carrying a personal load of 30 kgs over 50-60 km in 48 hour.
During the exercise, they are made to negotiate minefields, carry out river crossings and other such combat drills.
As part of the simulations, the patrol also deals with hostage situation.
Cambrian Patrol Exercise 2016, which was conducted from October 13 to October 24, saw participation from 18 foreign teams.
Doordarshan DG Supriya Sahu has been appointed as the new Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
An official statement released by the public broadcaster said that it participated in the 53rd annual Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly, hosted by the Indonesian public broadcaster RRI, which concluded in Bali, Indonesia on 25th October.
Ko Dae-young, President and CEO of Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) was elected as as new President and Sahu joins the other two Vice Presidents of ABU, Hikaru Doumoto, Executive Vice President of NHK-Japan and Senol Goka, Director General of TRT- Turkey, the statement said.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) India joined hands with Intel to launch a Centre of Excellence (CoE) that will help demonstrate High Performance Computing (HPC) as a service for customers.
The centre will also enable research institutions and academia to test their applications on the latest HPC platform innovations, enabled by Intel technologies, and accelerate HPC adoption in India.
Customers can also access the infrastructure remotely through a cloud-driven model that can be replicated in their data centers, HPE said in a statement.
