1. China to launch world's first quantum hack-proof satellite

China is set to launch the world's first quantum communication satellite which boasts of hack-proof ultra high security features to prevent wiretapping and intercepts.

If the satellite works well, it will pave the way to a hack-proof communication system.

2. First 'Arunachal Ratna' award for slain DSP

Arunachal Pradesh government conferred the first 'Arunachal Ratna' award to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bomto Kamdak posthumously, who lost his life during exchange of fire with criminals in East Kameng district.

3. Bolt steals the show, van Niekerk sets the record

Usain Bolt stormed past his rivals to claim a historic third straight Olympic 100 metres title. Hot on the heels of a sensational 400m world record by South African Wayde van Niekerk, the Jamaican surged past American rival Justin Gatlin to take the most prized Olympic gold in 9.81sec.

South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk has revealed that words of support from Usain Bolt helped drive him to break the world record in the 400m final at the Rio Olympics.

The 24-year-old claimed the gold medal by clocking 43.03 seconds, beating the previous record held by American Michael Johnson by 15 hundredths of a second.


4. After PNB,UBI, others to start e-verify return facility

After Punjab National Bank and United Bank of India, more banks are likely to soon start a facility wherein an account holder can verify his income tax return on e-filing site even without having netbanking.

Electronic verification code (EVC) can be generated by pre-validating the bank account on the e-filing portal of the income tax department.

“PNB and UBI have launched this facility which will facilitate the account holders, who may not have a netbanking account, to e-verify their return. Other banks are expected to launch this facility,” the central board of direct taxes (CBDT) said.
