1. GST Bill passed in Rajya Sabha; decks cleared for India's biggest tax reform 

 
A very famous and long-time pending Goods and Services tax or GST Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha.

2. BSE signs MOU with IIT Kanpur 


 
Leading stock exchange BSE signed an agreement with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur for collaboration in the areas including cyber security.

The key highlights of the MoU include cooperation for cyber security research in financial markets, developing an environment to deal with cyber security challenges and tools to strengthen cyber security as also to advise BSE in its cyber related issues.

3. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' elected 39th PM of Nepal 


 
Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Chairperson (CPN-MC) Pushpa Kamal Dahal was elected as the the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal, with more than 360 lawmakers voting for him.

Dahal was the sole claimant to the post of prime minister, when he filed his candidacy at the Parliament Secretariat.

While presenting his plans, Dahal said that he would try to lead the nation toward economic development while moving ahead in the spirit of national consensus during his premiership, reports the Himalayan Times.

Dahal said that his candidacy itself was meant to strengthen the national consensus among parties to solve all the problems including concerns of Madhesi parties and the challenges of post-earthquake reconstruction.

He also criticised outgoing Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli for what he said in his valedictory speech in Parliament last week.

Answering to some questions put forth by Oli during his speech, Dahal said the new government would give continuity to development projects and agreements signed with neighbouring nations.

Taking a jibe at Oli, he said the development projects were not actually initiated by the outgoing government, but by previous governments.

Dahal also known as Prachanda, led a guerrilla war against the government in the past and later served as prime minister of Nepal from 2008 to 2009.

4. RBI's Rajan launches 'Sachet' to curb illegal collection of deposits 


 
Indian Government has signed a memorandum of understanding to import tur and other pulses from Mozambique over three years.

5. 4 Indian-origin persons among US' top wealth advisors: Forbes 


 
Four Indian-origin persons have been named among America's top wealth advisors by Forbes on a list of 200 members who collectively manage USD 675 billion.

Raj Sharma and Ash Chopra, both working in Merrill Lynch - Private Banking & Investment Group, have been ranked 17th and 129 respectively on the Forbes 2016 'America's Top Wealth Advisors' list.

While Sonny Kothari of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management has been ranked 176, Raju Pathak of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is placed at 184.
