Reliance Annual General Meeting : Key Point Of The Event

In the company’s 42nd Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, said that Jio aims to take India from data shortage to data abundance country.

Reliance Jio, the telecom unit of Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, formally announced the start of services across India on Thursday.



HERE IS THE QUICK LOOK AT THE MAJOR POINTS OF THE EVENT


1. Reliance Jio services will be formally launched on 5 September while the commercial launch take till 31 December.
 
2. The data plans will be charged at the standard rate of Rs 50 per GB for 4G data, and the rate would keep falling with increased usage.

3. Data plans start from as low as Rs 149 a month and go all the way up to Rs 4999 per month for a heavy user. For occasionally users, the data plan will start at Rs 19. 

4. Jio voice calls, across India, will not be charged under any plan.

5. 4G LTE smartphones will be sold starting from Rs.2,999 and Jio-Fi for Rs.1,999

6. Till December 31, no charges will be levied on voice, data services or the Jio ecosystem.

7. At present, Jio's network covers 18,000 cities and two lakh villages. A set of apps that Jio offers will be free for active subscribers till December 2017, Ambani said. 

NOTE : Within 45 minutes of Mukesh Ambani Reliance AGM, Bharti lost Rs 12,000 crore in market capitalisation, while Idea Cellular eroded Rs 2,800 crore in market value.
