1. Kerala-based NGO to receive UNESCO literacy prize in Paris
A Kerala-based Jan Sikshan Sansthan (JSS) NGO will receive the prestigious UNESCO Confucius Prize. The NGO will get the award for its literacy-linked skill development activities at a ceremony in Paris.
2. Dell acquired EMC Corporation for USD 67 bn
Dell Inc has completed the acquisition of EMC Corporation for about USD 67 billion. With this, the world's largest privately-controlled, integrated technology company will come into existence.
3. Vishwanath Tripathi will get Bharat Bharti Samman
Senior author Dr Vishwanath Tripathi will be conferred with the UP government's biggest literature prize Bharat Bharti Samman on the upcoming Hindi Day.
4. O.P. Kohli sworn in as MP Governor
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Om Prakash Kohli was sworn in as the new governor of Madhya Pradesh.
Acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Rajendra Menon administered the oath of office to Kohli at a function in Raj Bhawan, officials said.
Kohli, who is also the Gujarat Governor, has been given the additional charge of Madhya Pradesh after Ram Naresh Yadav's tenure in office got over.
Kohli is the 26th Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
5. Reliance rated among top 10 global companies: Survey
According to the 'Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings' 2016 Reliance Industries was ranked 8th this year, improving from 14th position a year ago and being among the top 10 of the 250 global energy businesses.
