China successfully launched its newly-developed heavy-lift carrier rocket Long March-5 from Hainan Province.
The rocket blasted off from the coastal Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Province at around 8:43 PM local time.
An official of the mission declared the launch a success about 40 minutes later.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma died. He was 85.
The six-time legislator also served as speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Young Indian lawyer Aniruddha Rajput won the membership to the world body's top body of legal experts, garnering the highest number of votes in the Asia-Pacific group in a election in the UN General Assembly.
Aniruddha Rajput, 33, is among the 34 individuals elected by the General Assembly as members of the International Law Commission, the UN organ tasked with the progressive development of international law and its codification.
The newly elected members will serve five-year terms of office with the Geneva-based body beginning January 2017.
The members have been elected from five geographical groupings of African, Asia-Pacific, Eastern European, Latin American and Caribbean and Western European states.
Rajput got 160 votes, topping the Asia Pacific group in voting that was held by way of secret ballot.
A practicising lawyer of India's Supreme Court, Rajput is also the first Indian nominee chosen from outside a close circle of lawyers of the Ministry of External Affairs.
World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), which represents nearly 45,000 listed companies, has appointed NSE’s Managing Director and CEO Chitra Ramkrishna as its new chairperson.
WFE, which is the global industry association for exchanges and clearing houses, has appointed three new officers in line with the organisation’s customary geographical rotation of office—bearers every two years.
WFE has also appointed Urs Ruegsegger, Group CEO, SIX as its Vice Chairman, while it has named William Brodsky, executive chairman at Chicago Board Options Exchange, as the chairman of its working group committee.
Her name was announced at the 56th General Assembly in Cartagena, Colombia.
President Mukherjee was conferred an honorary doctorate by the Kathmandu University.
The degree was presented by Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is the chancellor of the university.
The President is on three-day visit to Nepal.
