1. China successfully launches heavy-lift carrier rocket

China successfully launched its newly-developed heavy-lift carrier rocket Long March-5 from Hainan Province.

The rocket blasted off from the coastal Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Province at around 8:43 PM local time.

An official of the mission declared the launch a success about 40 minutes later.

2. Former J&K Deputy Chief Minister passes away

Former Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma died. He was 85. 

The six-time legislator also served as speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

3. Young Indian lawyer elected to UN's top body of legal experts

Young Indian lawyer Aniruddha Rajput won the membership to the world body's top body of legal experts, garnering the highest number of votes in the Asia-Pacific group in a election in the UN General Assembly. 

Aniruddha Rajput, 33, is among the 34 individuals elected by the General Assembly as members of the International Law Commission, the UN organ tasked with the progressive development of international law and its codification.

The newly elected members will serve five-year terms of office with the Geneva-based body beginning January 2017. 

The members have been elected from five geographical groupings of African, Asia-Pacific, Eastern European, Latin American and Caribbean and Western European states. 

Rajput got 160 votes, topping the Asia Pacific group in voting that was held by way of secret ballot.

A practicising lawyer of India's Supreme Court, Rajput is also the first Indian nominee chosen from outside a close circle of lawyers of the Ministry of External Affairs.

4. WFE appoints NSE’s Chitra Ramkrishna as new chairperson

World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), which represents nearly 45,000 listed companies, has appointed NSE’s Managing Director and CEO Chitra Ramkrishna as its new chairperson.

WFE, which is the global industry association for exchanges and clearing houses, has appointed three new officers in line with the organisation’s customary geographical rotation of office—bearers every two years.

WFE has also appointed Urs Ruegsegger, Group CEO, SIX as its Vice Chairman, while it has named William Brodsky, executive chairman at Chicago Board Options Exchange, as the chairman of its working group committee.

Her name was announced at the 56th General Assembly in Cartagena, Colombia.

5. Kathmandu Varsity confers honorary doctorate on President Mukherjee

President Mukherjee was conferred an honorary doctorate by the Kathmandu University.

The degree was presented by Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is the chancellor of the university.

The President is on three-day visit to Nepal.

1. चीन ने भारी कैरियर रॉकेट का सफल प्रक्षेपण किया 

चीन ने अपने सबसे शक्तिशाली और नवनिर्मित हेवी-लिफ्ट कैरियर रॉकेट लॉन्ग मार्च-5 को सफलतापूर्वक प्रक्षेपित किया।

इस रॉकेट का इस्तेमाल भविष्य में स्थायी अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन के निर्माण जैसे अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रमों तथा चंद्र एवं मंगल मिशन के लिए किया जा सकता है।

यह रॉकेट स्थानीय समयानुसार रात करीब 8:43 बजे हेनान प्रांत में वेनचांग अंतरिक्ष प्रक्षेपण केंद्र से छोड़ा गया।

इस मिशन के एक अधिकारी ने कहा कि इस प्रक्षेपण को करीब 40 मिनट बाद सफल घोषित कर दिया गया।

द्विस्तरीय लांग मार्च 5 राकेट 25 टन भार को धरती की निचली कक्षा में ले जा सकता है। यह चीन का सबसे बड़ा वाहक राकेट है।

2. जम्मू कश्मीर के पूर्व उप मुख्यमंत्री का निधन 

जम्मू कश्मीर के पूर्व उप मुख्यमंत्री मंगत राम शर्मा का निधन हो गया। वह 85 वर्ष के थे।

छह बार विधायक रहे शर्मा ने जम्मू कश्मीर विधानसभा के स्पीकर की भी भूमिका निभाई थी। 

3. संयुक्त राष्ट्र में कानूनी विशेषज्ञों की शीर्ष संस्था में भारतीय युवा वकील का चयन

भारतीय युवा वकील अनिरूद्ध राजपूत ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा के चुनाव में एशिया प्रशांत समूह में सर्वाधिक मत हासिल करके संयुक्त राष्ट्र के कानूनी विशेषज्ञों की शीर्ष संस्था की सदस्यता हासिल कर ली।

33 वर्षीय अनिरूद्ध राजपूत उन 34 लोगों में शामिल हैं जिन्हें महासभा ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून आयोग के सदस्यों के रूप में चुना है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून आयोग संयुक्त राष्ट्र की ऐसी संस्था है जो अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून एवं उसके वर्गीकरण के क्रमिक विकास की जिम्मेदारी निभाती है।

नवनिर्वाचित सदस्य जनवरी 2017 से पांच वर्ष के कार्यकाल के लिए सेवाएं देंगे।

सदस्यों का चयन अफ्रीकी, एशिया प्रशांत, पूर्वी यूरोपीय, लातिन अमेरिकी एवं कैरेबियाई और पश्चिमी यूरोपीय देशों के पांच भौगोलिक समूहों से किया गया है।

एशिया प्रशांत समूह की मतदान प्रक्रिया में राजपूत को कल 160 मत मिले।

भारत के उच्चतम न्यायालय में वकालत कर रहे राजपूत ऐसे पहले भारतीय उम्मीदवार हैं जो उन वकीलों में शामिल नहीं हैं जो विदेश मंत्रालय से जुड़े मामले आम तौर पर देखा करते हैं।

4. डब्ल्यूएफई की चेयरपर्सन नियुक्त हुई चित्रा रामकृष्ण

वर्ल्ड फेडरेशन आफ एक्सचेंजेज "(डब्ल्यूएफई) ने एनएसई की प्रबंध निदेशक व सीईओ चित्रा रामकृष्ण को अपना नया चेयरपर्सन चुना है।

डब्ल्यूएफई लगभग 45,000 सूचीबद्ध कंपनियों का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। यह एक्सचेंजों व क्लीयरिंग हाउसों का वैश्विक संगठन है।

संगठन हर दो साल बाद अपने पदाधिकारियों की नियुक्ति क्रमिक परिवर्तन के आधार पर करता है।

चित्रा के नाम की घोषणा कार्टाजेना (कोलंबिया) में संगठन की आम सभा में की गई।

5. काठमांडू विश्वविद्यालय ने राष्ट्रपति मुखर्जी को डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि से नवाजा

काठमांडू विश्वविद्यालय ने राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी को डॉक्टरेट की मानद उपाधि दी।

श्री मुखर्जी ने काठमांडू विश्वविद्यालय की रजत जयंति की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि विश्वविद्यालय ने 25 वर्षों की कम अवधि में नेपाल में उच्च शिक्षा के केंद्र के रूप में अपने आप को स्थापित कर लिया है और कला-विज्ञान, इंजीनियरिंग, चिकित्सा, प्रबंधन तथा कानून में पाठ्यक्रम चला रहा है।

उल्लेखनीय है कि राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी नेपाल की तीन दिनों के दौरे पर है।

1. S&P retains India rating

International ratings agency Standard and Poor’s (S&P) has retained India’s rating at ‘BBB-/A-3’ with a Stable outlook and ruled out a review even next year.

This is the lowest investment grade rating and the government has been pitching for an upgrade after reforms such as the Insolvency Code and Constitution Amendment Act for the Goods and Services Tax.

“There is disconnect between investors’ thinking and rating agencies,” said Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das. “The government will continue to undertake measures necessary to strengthen economy, boost GDP growth and create jobs.”

The ratings agency, in a statement, said: “The outlook indicates that we do not expect to change our rating on India this year or next, based on our current set of forecasts.” A rating upgrade may be possible if the government’s reforms improves the fiscal situation and the net general government debt falls below 60 per cent of the GDP, it added. At present, it is about 69 per cent of the GDP.

In September, Moody’s Ratings had said a review of India’s ratings may be possible only after one to two years.

S&P was more optimistic about the economy and pegged the GDP growth rate at 7.9 per cent in 2016 and an average of eight per cent over 2016-18.

2. World’s leading off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be brand ambassador for Equitas SFB

Equitas Small Finance Bank, the first Private Sector Bank from Tamil Nadu post-Independence, announced World’s No.1 Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin as its brand ambassador. 

In September 2016, Equitas commenced its banking operations and is the country’s first Small Finance Bank to get listed on the exchanges and operate as a non-promoter entity.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who also hails from Equitas’ hometown Tamil Nadu, is the fastest Indian bowler to reach the 50, 100, 150 and 200-wickets mark in Test cricket and is currently the No.1 ICC Test bowler. The cricketer will endorse the company’s products and services through advertising campaigns and other promotional programmes.

3. PM Modi inaugurates Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the 3-day Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction, AMCDRR, in New Delhi.

4. Sarabjit Singh Marwah becomes Canada's first Sikh Senator

Kolkata-born Sarabjit Singh Marwah became the first Sikh to be appointed to the Canadian Senate.

Toronto-based Marwah is among six people from Ontario who have been appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

5. Mohini Sharma to represent India at Mrs World 2016 in Korea

Entrepreneur Mohini Sharma Mane is set to represent India at the 2016 Mrs World pageant, to be held in Korea. 

28-year-old Mohini was crowned Mrs India World this year in May.

Designer Masumi Mewawala has exclusively worked on her finale gown and the traditional attire, which will apparently represent "the soul of India".

1. एसएंडपी ने भारत की रेटिंग बीबीबी-ए3 रखी

अंतरराष्ट्रीय रेटिंग एजेंसी स्टैंडर्ड एंड पुअर्स ने स्थिर आऊटलुक के साथ भारत की रेटिंग को बीबीबी-ए3 पर बरकरार रखा है। एजेंसी ने एक बयान में कहा,हम भारत की दीर्घकालिक रेटिंग बीबीबी और अल्पकालिक सॉवरिन क्रेडिट रेटिंग ए-3 होने की पुष्टि करते हैं। हालांकि नीतिगत स्तर पर सुधार से भारत की आर्थिक और वित्तीय प्रदर्शन की संभावना को मजबूती मिलती है। अधिक राजकोषीय घाटे, भारी कर्ज बोझ और प्रति व्यक्ति कम आय के कारण भारत की रेटिंग कम रही है। 

एजेंसी ने कहा कि भारत की रेटिंग देश के एक्सटर्नल प्रोफाइल और मौद्रिक साख में सुधार का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। भारत की मजबूत लोकतांत्रिक संस्था और एक स्वतंत्र प्रेस, जो नीतियों की स्थिरता और उसके सटीक आकलन को बढावा देती है। ये देश के कमजोर प्रति व्यक्ति आय और कमजोर सार्वजनिक वित्त से उत्पन्न संभावित खतरों को संतुलित करती है।

2. अश्विन बने इक्विटास एसएफबी के ब्रांड एम्बेसडर

दुनिया के नंबर-1 टेस्ट गेंदबाज रविचंद्रन अश्विन को तमिलनाडु के निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक इक्विटास स्मॉल फाइनेंस ने अपना ब्रांड एम्बेसडर घोषित किया।

इक्विटास ने सितंबर 2016 से बैंकिंग सुविधाएं शुरू की हैं यह शेयर बाजारों में सूचीबद्ध होने वाला देश का पहला स्मॉल फाइनेंस बैंक है।

तमिलनाडु के ही रहने वाले अश्विन ने कहा, "इक्विटास स्मॉल फाइनेंस बैंक के साथ जुड़ना मेरे लिए गर्व की बात है। मुझे अगले 10 वर्षो में वित्तीय समावेशन के जरिए पांच प्रतिशत भारतीय घरों को सशक्त बनाने का प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी का विजन बेहद पसंद है और मैं इस महान विजन में थोड़ा सा योगदान करने के लिए तत्पर हूं। यह बैंक भी उनके इस विजन कि दिशा में काम कर रहा है।"

3. नरेन्‍द्र मोदी ने आपदा जोखिम कम करने संबंधी एशियाई मंत्रिस्‍तरीय सम्‍मेलन का उद्घाटन किया

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी ने नई दिल्‍ली में आपदा जोखिम में कमी लाने पर तीन दिन के एशियाई मंत्रिस्‍तरीय सम्‍मेलन का उद्घाटन किया। 

4. कोलकाता में जन्मे मारवाह कनाडा के पहले सिख सीनेटर बने

कोलकाता में जन्मे सरबजीत सिंह मारवाह कनाडा के ऐसे पहले सिख बन गए हैं जिनकी नियुक्ति सीनेट में हुई है। मारवाह स्कॉटियाबैंक के उपाध्यक्ष रह चुके हैं।

वह ओंटारियो के उन छह लोगों में शामिल हैं जिन्हें प्रधानमंत्री जस्टिन टड्रो ने सीनेट में नियुक्त किया है।

5. कोरिया में मिसेज वर्ल्ड 2016 में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगी मोहिनी शर्मा

उद्यमी मोहिनी शर्मा माने मिसेज वर्ल्ड प्रतियोगिता के 2016 के संस्करण में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगी। यह प्रतियोगिता कोरिया में होगी।

28 वर्षीय मोहिनी के सिर पर इस वर्ष मई में मिसेज इंडिया का ताज सजा था।

डिजाइनर मासूमी मेवावाला ने खास तौर पर उनके गाउन और पारपंरिक पोशाक पर काम किया है जो भारत की आत्मा का प्रतिनिधित्व करेगा।

1. S Nihal Singh to get Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award 

Veteran journalist S Nihal Singh has been chosen for the 'Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award' for his outstanding contribution to journalism which is presented by the Press Council of India (PCI). 

The award will be presented on November 16 and carries a cash component of Rs 1 lakh.

In a statement released, the PCI also announced other winners of the National Journalism Awards 2016, as per which Renjith Jonh of Deepika Daily has been chosen for his work for the award on Rural journalism and Developmental reporting. 

In the same category a special mention certificate will be jointly given to freelancer Arvind Kumar Singh and X Xavier Selvakumar of Dinamilar, Coimbatore, the statement added. 

T P Dhanesh (Malayala Manorama) and Pritam Bandopadhyay (The Asian Age) were chosen in the Single news picture category while Vijay Verma of PTI was selected for a special mention certificate. 

Renuka Puri of The Indian Express was chosen for the award in the category 'Photo feature' which carries a cash component of Rs 50,000. Baiju Poulose of Malayala Manorama was chosen the winner in the Best newspaper art category, while Rohit Jose also of Malayala Manorama was chosen for the special mention. 

The PCI said that it has also been decided to honour veterans in the field Raghu Rai (photo journalist), Sheetla Singh (senior journalist), Harish Chandra Shukla (Kak) (senior cartoonist) and senior journalists Potturi Venkateswara Rao and Mrinal Pande.

2. Bindheswar Pathak Brand Ambassador of Swachh Rail Mission

Stepping up the efforts to keep railway premises clean, Indian Railways has joined hands with Sulabh International and decided to make its founder Bindeshwar Pathak as Brand Ambassador of Swachh Rail Mission.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will felicitate Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of Sulabh International as a Brand Ambassador for Swachh Rail Mission of Indian Railways, said a senior Railway Ministry official.

Sulabh International has been assigned to clean some important railway stations across the country as part of the mission.

As a pilot project, Sulabh has started cleaning and maintenance of five important railway stations from September. These railway stations are Gorakhpur, Old Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Gwalior.

3. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam to get Centenary Award at IFFI 2016

Veteran singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam will be felicitated with the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year at the upcoming 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu announced.

"Balasubrahmanyam will be honoured for his talent. He has been working in the film industry since past five decades and has rendered more than 40,000 songs. He is a big name in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and also in Hindi. He has a melodious voice and hard working nature. It's an award, not a reward," Naidu said.

Born as Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, the six-time National Award winning-singer holds the record of singing the maximum number of songs. He is also a recipient of civilian honours -- Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan -- conferred by the union government.

Balasubrahmanyam, 70, has delivered many hit songs like "Om kaara nadhaanu" ("Shankarabharanam"), "Tere mere beech mein" ("Ek Duuje Ke Liye"), "Vedam Anuvanuvuna" ("Saagara Sangamam"), "Cheppaalani Undi" ("Rudraveena"), "Thanga Thamarai" ("Minsaara Kanavu").

The IFFI 2016 will take place from November 20-28.

4. Sushil Chandra takes over as CBDT chairman

Senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sushil Chandra took over as chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

Chandra, a 1980-batch IRS officer, has replaced Rani Singh Nair.

5. Kerala becomes open defecation-free state

Kerala has become the third Open Defecation Free (ODF) state in the country. Earlier, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim had declared themselves Open Defecation Free.

1. एस निहाल सिंह को राजा राम मोहन राय सम्मान

वरिष्ठ पत्रकार एस निहाल सिंह को पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान को देखते हुए भारतीय प्रेस परिषद पीसीआई के राजा राम मोहन राय सम्मान के लिए चुना गया है। 

यह पुरस्कार उन्हें 16 नवंबर को दिया जाएगा। इसमें एक लाख रूपए नकद दिया जाता है।

पीसीआई ने एक बयान में यह भी बताया कि राष्ट्रीय पत्रकारिता पुरस्कार के अन्य विजेताओं में दीपिका डेली के रंजीत जॉन शामिल हैं। उन्हें ग्रामीण पत्रकारिता और विकास संबंधी रिपोर्टिंग के लिए यह सम्मान दिया जा रहा है।

पीटीआई के विजय वर्मा को ‘‘स्पेशल मेंशन सर्टिफिकेट’’ के लिए चुना गया है वहीं मलयालया मनोरमा के टी पी धनेष और एशियन ऐज के प्रीतम बंदोपाध्याय को ‘‘सिंगल न्यूज पिक्चर’’ श्रेणी में चुना गया है।

पीसीआई ने कहा कि उसने फोटो पत्रकार रघु राय, वरिष्ठ पत्रकारों शीतला सिंह, पी वी राव और मृणाल पांडे तथा वरिष्ठ कार्टूनिस्ट हरीश चंद्र शुक्ला काक को भी सम्मानित करने का फैसला किया है।

2. बिंदेश्वर पाठक बने स्वच्छ रेल मिशन के ब्रांड एंबेसडर

रेलवे परिसर को साफ बनाने के लिए प्रयास तेज करते हुए रेलवे ने सुलभ इंटरनेशनल के साथ हाथ मिलाया है और इसके संस्थापक बिंदेश्वर पाठक को स्वच्छ रेल मिशन का ब्रांड एंबेसडर बनाने का फैसला किया है ।

रेल मंत्रालय के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने बताया कि रेल मंत्री सुरेश प्रभु सुलभ इंटरनेशनल के संस्थापक बिंदेश्वर पाठक को भारतीय रेल के स्वच्छ रेल मिशन के ब्रांड एंबेसडर के तौर पर सम्मानित करेंगे ।

सुलभ इंटरनेशनल को मिशन के तहत देश भर में कुछ महत्वपूर्ण रेलवे स्टेशनों को साफ रखने की जिम्मेदारी दी गयी है ।

पायलट परियोजना के तौर पर सुलभ ने सितंबर से पांच महत्वपूर्ण रेलवे स्टेशनों पर सफाई और रखरखाव का काम शुरू किया । ये रेलवे स्टेशन हैं गोरखपुर, पुरानी दिल्ली, जयपुर, अहमदाबाद और ग्वालियर ।

3. गायक बालसुब्रह्मण्यम को मिलेगा आईएफएफआई 2016 सेंटेनरी अवॉर्ड

जानेमाने गायक एसपी बालसुब्रह्मण्यम को गोवा में होने वाले 47वें भारतीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म समारोह :आईएफएफआई: में इस साल के सेंटेनरी अवॉर्ड से नवाजा जाएगा। यह पुरस्कार फिल्मी शख्सियत को दिया जाता है।

सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री एम वैंकेया नायडु ने संवाददाता सम्मेलन में इस आशय की घोषणा की।

नायडू ने कहा, ‘‘बालसुब्रह्मण्यम को उनकी प्रतिभा के लिए नवाजा जाएगा। यह पुरस्कार नहीं सम्मान है। वे पिछले पांच दशकों से फिल्म उद्योग में काम कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने अब तक 40,000 से ज्यादा गीत गाए हैं। तेलुगु, तमिल, कन्नड़, मलयालम और हिंदी जगत में वह बड़ा नाम हैं। उनकी आवाज मधुर है और वह खुद बड़े कर्मठ हैं।’’ उन्हें छह बार सर्वश्रेष्ठ गायक का राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार मिल चुका है। अधिकतम संख्या में गीत रिकॉर्ड करने का गिनीज विश्व रिकॉर्ड भी उनके नाम पर ही है।

भारत सरकार ने 70 वर्षीय गायक को पद्मश्री और पद्मभूषण सम्मान से नवाजा है।

नब्बे के दशक में उन्होंने सलमान खान के कई लोकप्रिय गाने गाए हैं मसलन ‘‘मेरे रंग में रंगने वाली’’, ‘‘हम आपके हैं कौन’’ और ‘‘पहला पहला प्यार है।’’ उन्होंने कई फिल्मों में अभिनय भी किया है।

4. सुशील चंद्र ने केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (सीबीडीटी) के अध्यक्ष का कार्यभार संभाला

सुशील चंद्रा, आईआरएस (1980 बैच) ने केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (सीबीडीटी) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में पदभार संभाल लिया है। उन्होंने सुश्री रानी ए. नायर का स्थान लिया। 

5. केरल को खुले में शौच से मुक्त घोषित किया गया

स्वच्छ भारत अभियान (एसबीएम) (ग्रामीण) के अंतर्गत केरल को अब तक तीसरा और सबसे बड़ा खुले में शौच से मुक्त (ओडीएफ) राज्य घोषित किया गया है। इसकी औपचारिक घोषणा केरल के मुख्यमंत्री पिनाराई विजयन ने तिरुवनंतपुरम के केन्द्रीय स्टेडियम में एक शानदार समारोह में की। विजयन ने राज्य में इस शानदार उपलब्धि में शामिल जिला कलेक्टरों और अन्य सरकारी अधिकारियों को पुरस्कार और बधाई दी।

सिक्किम (6 लाख) और हिमाचल प्रदेश (70 लाख) के बाद करीब 3.5 करोड़ की ग्रामीण आबादी के साथ खुले में शौच से मुक्ति का दर्जा प्राप्त करने वाला केरल सबसे बड़ा राज्य है।
