1. Shri J P Nadda inaugurates first of its kind Central Government CGMP compliant facility for production of vaccines at CRI, Kasauli
Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the first of its kind Current Good Manufacturing Practise (CGMP) compliant facility within the Central Government for manufacture of DPT and TT vaccine at the Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh.
The Union Health Minister also announced the functioning of the Zonal Office of CDSCO from the Container Corporation of India building, Baddi to facilitate Pharma companies and exporters from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana to get their clearances and No Objection certificates.
Shri Nadda also stated that CRI has started apprenticeship training for maintenance of high end machinery and equipment that have been installed with creation of new cGMP facility for production of DPT vaccine in the institute. The Health Minister also launched the website of CRI at the occasion.
Central Research Institute, Kasauli is one of the most important suppliers of vaccines for the Government’s Universal immunization programme (UIP) especially for DPT and TT vaccines. The Institute is involved in manufacture and supply of various lifesaving therapeutic antisera for snake bites, Rabies and Diphtheria, and supplies Yellow Fever Vaccine to different parts of the country. Diagnostic reagents such as diagnostic antigens for typhoid, typhus fever and brucellosis and diagnostic antisera for cholera and salmonella are also manufactured and supplied to various Institutions throughout the country.
2. Dr Jitendra Singh launches Cancer Care campaign in Northeast
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh launched in Shillong, capital of Meghalaya,the first of its kind, weeklong Cancer Care campaign in Northeast under the auspices of “North Eastern Council (NEC) - Pink Chain Cancer Conclave 2016”.
The campaign is being attended by Cancer specialists from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and other parts of the country, and the weeklong programmes will include public education camps, academic discussions by medical experts and visits to educational institutions.
3. India-born Reuben brothers top UK rich list, Hindujas at No 2
Britain's annual rich list released today has a distinctly Indian flavour with two sets of India- born brothers - Reuben and the Hinduja - grabbing the top two slots.
Mumbai-born tycoons David and Simon Reuben have topped 'The Sunday Times' Rich List 2016 with a fortune of 13.1 billion pounds, followed by the Hinduja brothers at 13 billion pounds.
The Reubens were born in India to a wealthy Iraqi-Jewish family before moving to Britain in the 1950's and made their fortune in metals and property.
This year they have increased their fortune by 3.4 billion pounds to jump to the top slot from last year's fifth position.
Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja, who head the Hinduja Group, hold on to their second rank from last year with an unchanged fortune.
4. Subhash Chandra receives CIF Global Indian Award in Canada
Essel and Zee group chairman Subhash Chandra has been given Global Indian Award instituted by Canada IndiaFoundation (CIF) here for his leadership and outstanding contributions in media and entertainment industry.
The 2016 CIF Chanchalani Global Indian Award, which carries a trophy and cash of USD 50,000, was presented to Chandra by CanadianMinister for Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains at a ceremony.
