1. MS Dhoni becomes fifth Indian to cross 9000 runs, breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 195 sixes in ODIs

MS Dhoni became the only the fifth Indian and third wicket-keeper to complete 9000 runs in One-day Internationals. Dhoni achieved the feat during the third ODI against New Zealand in Mohali. Dhoni also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most sixes – 195 – in ODIs.

Thus far, only Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Sourav Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889) and Mohammad Azharuddin (9378) have achieved the milestone. Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara (14234) and Australian Adam Gilchrist (9619) are the only other wicket-keepers in the world to have crossed the 9000-run mark.

As captain, Dhoni has led the Indian side to victory in the 2011 ICC World Cup. He was the first Indian captain to lift the trophy since Kapil Dev in 1983. Dhoni played was unbeaten at 91 off 79 deliveries and emphatically took the winning runs with a six.

2. Naseer, Piyush among the Yash Bharti awardees

The Uttar Pradesh government declared the last list of Yash Bharati awardees. As many as 54 persons would receive the award for the year 2016-17, including prominent names like Hindi film actor Naseeruddin Shah, PayTM CEO Vijay Shekhar, Paralympic athlete Varun Kumar, qawwali singers Aftab and Hashim (Sabri Brothers) and film directors Saurabh Shukla and Atul Tiwari.

Surprise inclusion in the list of awardees is of Swaroop Kumari Bakshi for literature and Begum Habibullah for social service. Both, Bakshi and Habibullah have been freedom fighters and owe their political allegiance to the Congress. Lt General Anil Chait, who was also the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief has been given the award for Military Service.

Cricketers Gyanendra Pandey, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla (cricketer) also figure in the list of awardees. Some of the other prominent awardees are Rajendra Singh (water conservationist), Dr Anil Rastogi (theatre and acting in films), Suman Yadav (sports), Syed Mohd Basheer Badr (literature & education), Swaroop Kumari Bakshi (literature), Prof Rakesh Kapoor (medicine), Dr Ramakant Yadav (Medical University, Saifai) and Anubhav Sinha (film director).

3. Wolf chosen as mascot of 2018 football World Cup in Russia

A wolf has been chosen as mascot of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The wolf will be named Zabivaka.

4. India wins 2016 Kabaddi World Cup

India lifted the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. Team India, under the captaincy of Anup Kumar, defeated Iran 38-29 in the final held at the Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

This was India's 3rd World Cup in the Standard Style version of Kabaddi.

• The 2016 Kabaddi World Cup was an international kabaddi tournament governed by the International Kabaddi Federation.

• It was contested from 7 to 22 October 2016 in Ahmedabad, India.

• Twelve countries had competed in the tournament.

• The tournament was hosted at The Arena by TransStadia, a newly-constructed convertible stadium in Ahmedabad.

• The official emblem of the tournament was unveiled on 14 September 2016 by Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel. It incorporated a stylized lion, representing the Asiatic lions of Girnar.

5. Rear Admiral Srinivas is new Flag Officer Submarines

Rear Admiral Vennam Srinivas took charge as the Flag Officer Submarines from Rear Admiral Sanjay Mahindru.

Srinivas was commissioned on July 1, 1897 and has served 25 years in the submarine arm. He has commanded two conventional submarines, a destroyer prior assuming command of the nuclear submarine INS Chakra, a Naval release issued here said.

Whilst serving ashore, the officer commanded the Navy's submarine training establishment and has been the principal director at Naval Headquarters, it said.

According to the release, Srinivas is an alumnus of College of Naval Warfare and has also completed the Staff Course in Defence Services Staff College at Wellington in New Zealand.

1. धोनी ने तोड़ा सचिन का रिकार्ड, वनडे में 9000 रन भी पूरे किये 

भारतीय कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धोनी एकदिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट में सर्वाधिक छक्के जड़ने वाले भारतीय बल्लेबाज बन गये हैं। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने क्रिकेट के इस प्रारूप में 9000 रन भी पूरे किये। 

धोनी ने न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ तीसरे वनडे के दौरान अपना तीसरा छक्का जड़ने के साथ सचिन तेंदुलकर के भारत की तरफ से 195 छक्कों के रिकार्ड को तोड़ा। अपना 281वां मैच खेल रहे धोनी एकदिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट में सर्वाधिक छक्के लगाने वाले बल्लेबाजों की सूची में पांचवें स्थान पर भी पहुंच गये हैं। वनडे में धोनी से अधिक छक्के पाकिस्तान के शाहिद अफरीदी (351), श्रीलंका के सनथ जयसूर्या (270), वेस्टइंडीज के क्रिस गेल (238) और न्यूजीलैंड के ब्रैंडन मैकुलम (200) ने लगाये हैं। 

जहां तक भारत का सवाल है तो धोनी के बाद इस रिकार्ड में अब तेंदुलकर (195), सौरव गांगुली (190), युवराज सिंह (148), वीरेंद्र सहवाग (136), सुरेश रैना (120) और रोहित शर्मा (114) का नंबर आता है। भारत की तरफ से खेलते हुए सर्वाधिक छक्के लगाने का रिकार्ड हालांकि अब भी तेंदुलकर के नाम पर है। धोनी ने तीन मैच एशिया एकादश की तरफ से अफ्रीका एकादश के खिलाफ भी खेले जिनमें उन्होंने सात छक्के लगाये थे। धोनी ने इससे पहले वनडे में 9000 से अधिक रन बनाने वाले पांचवें भारतीय और ओवरआल तीसरे विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज बने। उन्होंने मिशेल सैंटनर पर छक्का जड़कर अपनी रन संख्या 26 पर पहुंचाने के साथ यह उपलब्धि हासिल की। उन्हें इस मैच से पहले यह मुकाम हासिल करने के लिये केवल 22 रन की ज़रूरत थी। 

2. नसीरुद्दीन शाह और बशीर बद्र समेत 54 लोगों को मिलेगा ‘यश भारती’ 

उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने वर्ष 2016 के ‘यश भारती’ पुरस्कार विजेताओं के नाम का एलान कर दिया। 

राज्य सरकार के एक प्रवक्ता के मुताबिक सरकार ने अपने-अपने क्षेत्र में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान देने वाले 54 लोगों को ‘यश भारती’ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित करने की घोषणा की है।

3. 'भेडिय़ा' फीफा विश्वकप 2018 हेतु शुभंकर चुना गया 

रूस में साल 2018 में होने वाले फीफा फुटबॉल वर्ल्ड कप हेतु एक भेड़िए को शुभंकर चुना गया है। इसको जाबीवाका नाम दिया गया है। 

4. भारत ने कबड्डी विश्व कप-2016 जीता 

भारत ने वर्ष 2016 का कबड्डी विश्व कप जीता. भारतीय टीम ने अनूप कुमार की कप्तानी में ईरान की टीम को 38-29 से हराया. फाइनल मुकाबला गुजरात के अहमदाबाद स्थित एरेना बाय ट्रांसस्टेडिया में खेला गया. 

कबड्डी की इस प्रतियोगिता में यह भारत का तीसरा विश्व कप है. 

कबड्डी विश्व कप-2016 

• यह अंतरराष्ट्रीय कबड्डी संघ द्वारा आयोजित अंतरराष्ट्रीय कबड्डी प्रतियोगिता थी जिसे प्रतिवर्ष आयोजित किया जाता है. 

• इस वर्ष इसका 7 से 22 अक्टूबर के मध्य अहमदाबाद में किया गया. 

• इस प्रतियोगिता में 12 देशों की टीमों ने भाग लिया. 

• सभी मैच अहमदाबाद में नवनिर्मित स्टेडियम एरेना बाय ट्रांसस्टेडिया में आयोजित किये गये. 

• प्रतियोगिता का प्रतीक चिन्ह एक शेर की कलाकृति था जिसे 14 सितंबर 2016 को युवा एवं खेल मंत्री विजय गोयल द्वारा जारी किया गया. 

5. रीयर एडमिरल श्रीनिवास बने नये फ्लैग ऑफिसर सबमरीन्स

रीयर एडमिरल वेन्नम श्रीनिवास ने रीयर एडमिरल संजय महिन्द्रू से फ्लैग ऑफिसर सबमरीन्स का कार्यभार संभाल लिया। 

नौसेना की एक विज्ञप्ति में बताया गया है कि श्रीनिवास ने एक जुलाई 1897 को कमीशन प्राप्त किया था और पनडुब्बी प्रभाग में 25 साल तक अपनी सेवाएं दीं। परमाणु पनडुब्बी आईएनएस चक्र की कमान संभालने से पहले वह दो पारंपरिक पनडुब्बियों, एक विध्वंसक की कमान संभाल चुके हैं। 

इसमें बताया गया है कि समुद्र तट पर सेवाएं देते हुए अधिकारी ने नौसेना के पनडुब्बी प्रशिक्षण सेवा की कमान संभाली और वह नौसेना मुख्यालय के प्रधान निदेशक रहे हैं। 

विज्ञप्ति के मुताबिक, श्रीनिवास कॉलेज ऑफ नेवल वारफेयर के छात्र हैं और न्यूजीलैंड में वेलिंगटन के डिफेंस सर्विसेज स्टॉफ कॉलेज से स्टॉफ कोर्स का पाठ्यक्रम भी पूरा किया है।

1. Sudarshan Patnaik is brand ambassador for International Sand

Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has been declared as the brand ambassador for the 5th International Sand Art Festival to be held at Konark by the tourism department of Odisha.

International Sand Art Festival is a popular annual event organised by Odisha Tourism from December 1 to 5 at Konark in Puri.

Several sand artists from India and abroad will participate in the festival.

As the festival would coincide with the Make in Odisha Conclave, a large number of visitors are expected to turn up to witness the international event, said Pattnaik, expressing happiness for once again being made brand ambassador of the event.

Odisha tourism has been organising this festival for last four years.

So far, Sudarsan has participated in more than 50 international sand art festivals and competition around the world and won many prizes for the country.

2. Government, World Bank sign $650 million pact for eastern corridor project

Multilateral lending agency World Bank and India signed a USD 650-million loan agreement for the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC).

"The project will benefit industries of Northern and Eastern India, which rely on railway network for transportation of material inputs and exports that would accelerate creation of jobs in the northern and eastern regions of the country," the World Bank said in a statement.

This the third loan agreement that the World Bank has signed for the Eastern Corridor, which is 1,840 km long and extends from Ludhiana to Kolkata.

The World Bank is supporting EDFC as a series of projects in which three sections with a total route length of 1,193 km will be delivered sequentially, but with considerable overlap in their construction schedules, the statement said.

EDFC 3, approved by the World Bank on June 30, 2016, will build the 401 km Ludhiana-Khurja section which goes through Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

The first loan of USD 975 million for the 343 km Khurja-Kanpur section in the EDFC programme was approved by the World Bank in May 2011 and is already under implementation.

3. 'Mumbai among 15 global cities in terms of total wealth held'

India's financial hub Mumbai has been named among top 15 cities globally in terms of total wealth held, while London topped the list, says a report. 

According to New World Wealth, the wealthiest cities in the world are London with USD 2.7 trillion of total wealth, followed by New York City (USD 2.6 trillion) and Tokyo (USD 2.2 trillion) in the second and third place respectively.

Mumbai featured on the 14th place in the list with a total wealth held in the city worth USD 820 billion. 

"Home to 45,000 millionaires and 28 billionaires, Mumbai is the economic hub of India. It is also home to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)," the report said. 

The report further noted that among the 15 cities, Beijing, Shanghai, Mumbai and Sydney were the fastest growing in terms of wealth over the past decade (2006-2016). 

"Going forward, Mumbai is expected to be the fastest growing city (in terms of wealth growth over the next 10 years)," the report added. 

Others in the list include San Francisco Bay area at the fourth place with a total wealth of USD 1.9 trillion; Beijing (5th, USD 1.8 trillion); Shanghai (6th, USD 1.6 trillion); Los Angeles (7th, USD 1.2 trillion); Hong Kong (8th, USD 1.1 trillion); Singapore (9th, USD 870 billion) and Chicago (10th, USD 860 billion). 

Sydney at 11th place has a total wealth of USD 850 billion; Toronto (12th, USD 850 billion); Frankfurt (13th, USD 830 billion) and Paris (15th, USD 800 billion). 

Meanwhile, total wealth held worldwide amounts to USD 185 trillion (as of June 2016). Globally, there are 13,300,000 millionaires and 1,940 billionaires in total, the report said. 

'Total wealth' refers to the private wealth held by all individuals in a country. 

It includes all their assets (property, cash, equities, business interests) less any liabilities. Government funds are from the figures.

4. Pakistan to supply 10 trainer aircraft to Nigeria

Pakistan signed an agreement for sale of ten Super Mushshak Aircraft to Nigerian Air Force, Pakistan Air Forces (PAF) announced.

“The contract signing ceremony was held at Abuja (Nigeria), where Air Vice Marshal Iya Ahmed Abdullahi and Air Marshal Arshad Malik, Chairman Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) signed the contract,” PAF Spokesman Air Commodore Syed Muhammad Ali said.

The contract also includes operational training and technical support and assistance to Nigerian Air Force. Pakistan Air Force would completely establish this facility in the shortest possible time, he said.

This contract would not only open new avenues for export of aviation equipment to foreign countries but also help in generating revenue for the country.

The Aircraft is already in service with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and South Africa.

The deal further strengthens PAC’s status as a world class aviation industry producing the supersonic JF-17 Thunder and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft.

5. Esha named Goodwill Ambassador for children's free heart surgeries

Bollywood actress Esha Gupta has been named as the Goodwill Ambassador for the free heart surgeries for children under 16.

1. सुदर्शन पटनायक बने अंतरराष्ट्रीय रेत कला महोत्सव के ब्रांड एंबेसडर

रेत से कलाकृतियां बनाने वाले प्रसिद्ध कलाकार सुदर्शन पटनायक को पांचवे अंतरराष्ट्रीय रेत कला महोत्सव का ब्रांड एंबेसडर बनाया गया है। ओडिशा पर्यटन विभाग के द्वारा इस महोत्सव का आयोजन कोणार्क में होगा।

अंतरराष्ट्रीय रेत कला महोत्सव ओडिशा पर्यटन विभाग का लोकप्रिय वाषिर्क महोत्सव है। यह महोत्सव पुरी के कोणार्क में एक दिसंबर से पांच दिसंबर तक चलेगा।

इस महोत्सव में देश और विदेश के कलाकार हिस्सा लेंगे। पिछले चार साल से ओडिशा पर्यटन विभाग इस महोत्सव का आयोजन कर रहा है।

2. सरकार, विश्व बैंक में पूर्वी गलियारा परियोजना के लिये 65 करोड़ डालर का समझौता

विश्व बैंक और भारत सरकार के बीच पूर्वी समर्पित माल परिवहन गलियारा (ईडीएफसी) के लिये 65 करोड़ डालर के ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।

विश्व बैंक ने एक वक्तव्य में कहा है, ‘‘इस परियोजना से उत्तरी और पूर्वी भारत के उद्योगों को फायदा होगा। यह क्षेत्र विभिन्न प्रकार के कच्चे माल को पाने और माल के निर्यात परिवहन के लिये मुख्यतौर पर रेलवे नेटवर्क पर ही निर्भर है। परियोजना से देश के पूर्वोत्तर हिस्से में रोजगार सृजन को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।’’ विश्व बैंक के साथ पूर्वी माल परिवहन गलियारे के लिये यह तीसरा ऋण समझौता किया गया है। पूर्वी माल परिवहन गलियारा 1,840 किलोमीटर लंबा है और इसे लुधियाणा से कोलकाता तक बढ़ाया गया है।

वक्तव्य में कहा गया है विश्व बैंक इस परियोजना को काफी समर्थन दे रहा है। इसमें कुल मिलाकर 1,193 किलोमीटर लंबाई के तीन भागों में परियोजनाओं को समर्थन दिया गया है।

ईडीएफसी-तीन को विश्व बैंक ने 30 जून 2016 को मंजूरी दी थी। 401 किलोमीटर की इस परियोजना में लुधियाणा-खुर्जा भाग में रेल लाइन बिछाई जायेगी। यह परियोजना पंजाब, हरियाणा और उत्तर प्रदेश से गुजरेगी। विश्व बैंक ने परियोजना के लिये पहला ऋण 97.50 करोड़ डालर का मई 2011 में मंजूर किया था। इसमें 343 किलोमीटर की खुर्जा-कानपुर भाग में लाइन बिछाई जायेगी।

दूसरा ऋण 402 किलोमीटर की कानपुर-मुगलसराय हिस्से के लिये मंजूर किया गया। विश्व बैंक ने इसके लिये 1.1 अरब डालर का ऋण अप्रैल 2014 में मंजूर किया।

ईडीएफसी देश में तैयार किये जा रहे समर्पित माल परिवहन गलियारा परियोजना का हिस्सा है। इसके तहत दो मुख्य परियोजनाओं पर काम हो रहा है। पहली पश्चिमी माल परिवहन गलियारा और दूसरी पूर्वी माल परिवहन गलियारा। इनके जरिये 6,000 से 12,000 सकल टन की माल परिवहन रेलगाड़ियां चलाई जायेंगी।

3. मुंबई संपत्ति के मामले में दुनिया के 15 शीर्ष शहरों में शामिल

देश की आर्थिक राजधानी मुंबई कुल संपत्ति के आधार पर दुनिया के 15 शीर्ष शहरों में शामिल है, जबकि लंदन इस सूची में पहले स्थान पर है।

न्यू वर्ल्ड वेल्थ नामक एक रपट के अनुसार लंदन में कुल 2,700 अरब डॉलर की संपत्ति है और वह इस सूची में पहले स्थान पर है जबकि न्यूयॉर्क शहर 2,600 अरब डॉलर की संपत्ति के साथ दूसरे और तोक्यो 2,200 अरब डॉलर की संपत्ति के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहा है।

मुंबई इस सूची में 14वें स्थान पर है जहां शहर में लोगों के पास 820 अरब डॉलर की संपत्ति है।

रपट में कहा गया है कि 45,000 करोड़पतियों, 28 अरबपतियों के साथ-साथ मुंबई में बंबई शेयर बाजार भी है और यह देश की आर्थिक राजधानी भी है।

इन 15 शहरों में सॉन फ्रांसिस्को समुद्री क्षेत्र 1,900 अरब डालर की संपत्ति के साथ चौथे स्थान पर रहा। बीजिंग 1800 अरब डॉलर के साथ पांचवे, शंघाई 1600 अरब डॉलर के साथ छठे स्थान पर रहा। भारत से केवल मुंबई ही इस सूची में शामिल है। अन्य शहरों में लॉस एंजिलिस, हांगकांग, सिंगापुर, शिकागो, टोरंटो, फ्रैंकफर्ट और पेरिस भी शामिल हैं।

इस रपट में कुल संपत्ति से आशय देश के सभी व्यक्तियों के पास उपलब्ध उनकी निजी संपत्ति से है।

4. पाकिस्तान से 10 सुपर मुश्शाक विमान खरीदेगा नाइजीरिया

नाइजीरिया अपनी वायु क्षमता बढ़ाने के लिए पाकिस्तान से 10 स्वदेश निर्मित ‘सुपर मुश्शाक’ विमान खरीदेगा।

पाकिस्तान वायुसेना (पीएएफ) ने इस्लामाबाद में एक बयान में कहा कि नाइजीरिया के एयर वाइस मार्शल आई. अहमद अब्दुल्ला और पाकिस्तान एयरोनॉटिकल कॉम्प्लेक्स :पीएसी: के अध्यक्ष एयर मार्शल अरशद मलिक ने इस संबंध में नाइजीरिया की राजधानी आबुजा में कल एक अनुबंध पर हस्ताक्षर किया।

इस अनुबंध में संचालन से जुड़े प्रशिक्षण और तकनीकी सहयोग के साथ नाइजीरियाई वायु सेना (एनएएफ) को सहयोग भी शामिल हैं।

5. चिल्ड्रन्स फ्री हार्ट सर्जरी की सद्भावना राजदूत बनीं ईशा

बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री ईशा गुप्ता को 16 साल तक के बच्चों के दिल की मुफ्त सर्जरी के लिए सद्भावना राजदूत के रूप में नामित किया गया है।

1. RBI permits 100 per cent FDI in ‘other financial services’

The Reserve Bank of India has permitted 100 per cent foreign direct investment in ‘Other Financial Services’ carried out by non-banking finance firms.

“Other Financial Services will include activities which are regulated by any financial sector regulator viz. RBI, Sebi, IRDA, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, National Housing Bank or any other financial sector regulator as may be notified by the government in this regard,” it said.

2. HCL Tech to buy Butler America Aerospace for $85mn

IT services major HCL Technologies said that it will acquire Butler America Aerospace for USD 85 million in cash, a move aimed at strengthening its position in the aerospace and defence engineering services space.

Butler Aerospace provides engineering, design services and aftermarket engineering services to US aerospace and defence customers, providing them services in areas of mechanical and structural design, electrical design, tool design and aftermarket engineering services. “The consideration for the proposed transaction is USD 85 million to be paid in cash. The proposed acquisition will exclude the staffing business of Butler America Inc,” the country’s fourth largest IT Company said in a statement.

Butler America Aerospace had revenues of USD 85.4 million for the year ended December 31, 2015. The transaction, when consummated, is likely to be EPS accretive, it added.

The acquisition, subject to regulatory approvals including CFIUS approval in the US, is expected to be completed by December 31, 2016.

3. Indian-American appointed DHS academic advisory council member

A top Indian-American woman academic and president of the University of Houston was appointed as member of the US Department of Homeland Security's Academic Advisory Council.

The appointment of Renu Khator, Chancellor of the University of Houston System and president of the University of Houston (UH), was announced by US Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson.

The council, which is made up of 23 members, including college presidents, academic leaders and inter-agency partners, provides advice and recommendations to the secretary on matters related to homeland security and the academic community.

Since its formation in 2012, members have issued more than 120 recommendations in the areas of academic research and faculty exchange, campus resilience, cybersecurity, international students, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) academic programmes and recruitment of current students and recent graduates.

Khator, who will serve a four-year term on the council, was selected by DHS based on her expertise in higher education leadership and University of Houston’s leadership in homeland security research.

University of Houston is the lead institution for the DHS Center of Excellence for Borders, Trade and Immigration Research, awarded in late 2015, and one of only three universities in Texas with dual designation by the National Security Agency and the DHS for its educational and research programmes in cybersecurity and cyber defense.

4. New York City Mayor declares October 19 as ‘Waris Ahluwalia Day’

In a rare honour, New York City declared October 19, 2016 as Waris Ahluwalia day in recognition of the Sikh-American actor and designer for his “powerful” message of countering ignorance and advocating for religious understanding and tolerance.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio honored Ahluwalia at a special reception at his official residence Gracie Mansion in New York to celebrate the festival of Diwali.

De Blasio presented Ahluwalia a proclamation that declared October 19, 2016 in the city of New York as ‘Waris Ahluwalia Day’.

5. Mukesh Ambani's wealth at $22.7 billion equals Estonia's GDP: Forbes

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani, who has been named India's richest person for the 9th year in a row with a sharp increase in networth to USD 22.7 billion, has fortune that is equal to Estonia's GDP, says Forbes India.

Similarly, Wipro's Azim Premji, the 4th richest Indian on the Forbes list, has a networth of USD 15 billion -- more than Mozambique's GDP of US $14.7 billion.

Sun Pharma's Dilip Shanghvi is the second richest with a wealth of US $16.9 billion, while the Hinduja Family moved up to the third position (US $15.2 billion) on the annual list of India's 100 Richest People.

Pallonji Mistry with a wealth of US $13.90 billion is the 5th richest Indian on the list.

According to magazine, the total wealth of India's top five billionaires, which stands at a whopping US $83.7 billion, is more than the cost of 1,230 Mars Orbiter 'Mangalyaan' Missions and is more than 18 times the cost of hosting the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Much of the wealth is accumulated in the top half of the 'Richie Rich' league, Forbes said, adding that if the '80-20 rule' is applied to the list, it indicates a 'trickling down' of fortunes to the lower order.

"The 80-20 rule, when applied to the rich list, should translate to the top 20 billionaires accounting for 80 per cent of the wealth. However, the share of the top 20 in overall wealth has steadily eroded from 70 per cent in 2009 to 52 percent in 2016, indicating a trickling down of fortunes to the lower order," the business magazine added.

According to the list, the total wealth of the 100 richest stood at US$ 381 billion, up 10 per cent from US$ 345 billion in 2015.

Since 2014, all the richest Indians have been 'billionaires' instead of some millionaires earlier. The minimum cut-off to figure in the 100 Richest Indians list hit a record high of US$ 1.25 billion this year. Last year it was US$ 1.1 billion.

6. The Sleepwalker's Dream authored by Dhrubajyoti Borah released

Book titled The Sleepwalker's Dream authored by Dhrubajyoti Borah released. The book authored by Borah, President of Asam Sahitya Sabha, narrates the journey of a group of militants towards an elusive freedom and an uncertain future.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने गैर-बैंकिंग वित्तीय कंपनियों द्वारा चलायी जाने वाली ‘अन्य वित्तीय सेवाओं’ में 100 प्रतिशत प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश की अनुमति दी। 

अधिसूचना के मुताबिक अन्य वित्तीय सेवाओं में रिजर्व बैंक, सेबी, इरडा, पीएफआरडीए, राष्ट्रीय आवास बैंक या अन्य किसी भी वित्तीय नियामक की निगरानी में की जाने वाली गतिविधियां शामिल हैं। 

2. एचसीएल 8.5 करोड़ डालर में बटलर अमेरिका एयरोस्पेस का अधिग्रहण करेगी 

आईटी सेवा कंपनी एचसीएल टेक्नोलाजीज 8.5 करोड़ डालर में बटलर अमेरिकी एयरोस्पेस का अधिग्रहण करेगी। कंपनी के इस कदम का मकसद एयरोस्पेस और रक्षा इंजीनियरिंग सेवा क्षेत्र में स्थिति मजबूत करना है। 

बटलर एयरोस्पेस अमेरिकी एयरोस्पेस और रक्षा क्षेत्र से जुड़े ग्राहकों को इंजीनियरिंग तथा डिजाइन सेवा उपलब्ध कराती है। 

देश की चौथी सबसे बड़ी आईटी कंपनी ने एक बयान में कहा, ‘‘प्रस्तावित सौदा 8.5 करोड़ डालर का है जो पूरी तरह नकद होगा। प्रस्तावित अधिग्रहण बटलर अमेरिका का ‘स्टाफिंग कारोबार’ शामिल नहीं है।’’ बटलर अमेरिका एरोस्पेस की आय 2015 में 8.54 करोड़ डालर थी। 

कंपनी के पास 900 इंजीनियरों की टीम और अमेरिका में सात डिजाइन सेंटर है। 

यह अधिग्रहण अमेरिका में नियामकीय मंजूरी पर निर्भर है और इसके 31 दिसंबर 2016 तक पूरा होने की संभावना है। 

3. भारतीय अमेरिकी को नियुक्त किया गया डीएचएस शैक्षणिक सलाहकार परिषद का सदस्य 

भारतीय अमेरिकी महिला शिक्षाविद रेणु खाटोर को अमेरिका के गृह सुरक्षा विभाग के शैक्षणिक सलाहकार परिषद का सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया है। 

अमेरिका के गृह सुरक्षा मामलों के मंत्री (सुरक्षा) जेह जॉनसन ने कल यूनिवसिर्टी ऑफ ह्यूस्टन सिस्टम की कुलाधिपति और ह्यूस्टन विश्वविद्यालय की प्रेसीडेंट खाटोर की नियुक्ति की घोषणा की। 

यह 23 सदस्यीय परिषद मंत्री को गृह सुरक्षा और शैक्षणिक समुदाय से जुड़े मुद्दों पर सलाह देती है और इन मामलों से जुड़ी अनुशंसा करती है। 

परिषद में खाटोर का कार्यकाल चार वर्ष का होगा। उच्च शिक्षा के नेतृत्वकर्ता के रूप में लंबे अनुभव और विशेषज्ञता को देखते हुए उनका चयन हुआ है। 

4. न्यूयॉर्क शहर के मेयर ने 19 अक्तूबर को वारिस अहलूवालिया दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया

न्यूयॉर्क शहर ने एक दुर्लभ सम्मान के तहत 19 अक्तूबर 2016 के दिन को वारिस अहलूवालिया दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया। सिख-अमेरिकी अभिनेता एवं डिजाइनर अहलूवालिया के सम्मान में यह घोषणा अज्ञानता के खिलाफ उनके ‘‘शक्तिशाली’’ संदेश और उनके द्वारा धार्मिक समझ तथा सहिष्णुता की पैरवी किए जाने के कारण की गई। 

शहर के मेयर बिल डे ब्लासियो ने अहलूवालिया को कल यहां अपने आधिकारिक आवास ग्रेसी मैंशन में एक विशेष कार्यक्रम में सम्मानित किया।

5. मुकेश अंबानी की संपत्ति 22.7 अरब डालर, एस्टोनिया की जीडीपी के बराबर: फोर्ब्स 

उद्योगपति मुकेश अंबानी लगातार नौंवे साल देश के सबसे अमीर व्यक्ति का तमगा हासिल करने में सफल रहे हैं। फोर्ब्स इंडिया के अनुसार अंबानी की कुल संपत्ति तेजी से बढ़ती हुई 22.7 अरब डालर पर पहुंच गई। इस तरह अंबानी की परिसंपत्तियां एस्टोनिया की सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) के बराबर हो गई। 

इसी तरह फोर्ब्स की सूची में विप्रो के अजीम प्रेमजी देश के चौथे सबसे धनी व्यक्ति हैं। उनकी संपत्ति 15 अरब डालर हैं जो मोजाम्बिक के 14.7 अरब डालर के जीडीपी से अधिक है। 

इस सूची के अनुसार सन फार्मा के दिलीप सांघवी 16.9 अरब डालर की संपत्ति के साथ दूसरे सबसे अमीर व्यक्ति हैं। भारत के 100 सबसे धनी लोगों की वाषिर्क सूची में हिंदुजा परिवार 15.2 अरब डालर की परिसम्पतियों साथ तीसरे स्थान पर है। पल्लोनजी मिस्त्री की परिसंपत्तियां 13.90 अरब डालर रही और वह सूची में पांचवें स्थान पर हैं। 

फोर्ब्स पत्रिका के अनुसार देश के शीर्ष पांच अरबपतियों की कुल परिसंपत्तियां 83.7 अरब डालर हैं जो कि मंगल पर भेजे गए यान ‘मंगलयान’ की लागत से अधिक है। इसी तरह यह रियो ओलंपिक 2016 के आयोजन पर आई लागत से 18 गुना ज्यादा है। 

फोर्ब्स ने कहा कि इसमें से ज्यादातर संपत्तियों सृजन सूची में शीर्ष में शामिल लोगों ने किया है। फोर्ब्स के अनुसार यदि सूची में 80-20 नियम को लागू किया जाता है तो इससे पता चलता है कि शीर्ष धनाढ्यों का कुल परिसंपत्तियों में हिस्सा कम हुआ है। 

6. ध्रुबज्योति बोराह लिखित द स्लीपवॉकर्स ड्रीम का लोकार्पण 

ध्रुबज्योति बोराह द्वारा लिखित पुस्तक द स्लीपवॉकर्स ड्रीम का हाल ही में लोकार्पण हुआ. बोराह असम साहित्य सभा के अध्यक्ष हैं, उन्होंने इस पुस्तक में उग्रवादियों द्वारा लड़ी जा रही लड़ाई तथा उनके अंधेरे भविष्य के बारे में लिखा है. 

स्लीपवॉकर्स ड्रीम में दिखाया गया है कि जून, रॉन एवं अन्य लड़ाके सेना के हमले के बाद भूटान में छिपे हुए हैं. वे अपने समूह के मुखिया के साथ हैं जो इस समय घायल अवस्था में असम बॉर्डर तक जा पाने की स्थिति में नहीं है. 

पुस्तक के माध्यम से लेखक ने इन उग्रवादियों द्वारा जारी इस संघर्ष की दास्तान को जीवंत रूप में प्रस्तुत किया है. पुस्तक में दिखाया गया है कि जून इस सदस्य की एकमात्र महिला है जो अपने गांव में मौजूद अपने परिवार की यादों में खो जाती है.
