1. शर्मिला टैगोर समेत तीन लोगों को बीसीसीसी का सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया 

फिल्म अभिनेत्री शर्मिला टैगोर, थिएटर कार्यकर्ता अरधंति नाग और फिल्म अध्ययन से जुड़ी शिक्षाविद इरा भास्कर को ब्रॉडकास्टिंग कंटेंट कम्प्लेंट्स काउंसिल (बीसीसीसी) के नये सदस्य के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। बीसीसीसी टीवी कंटेंट के खिलाफ शिकायतों को सुनने वाला एक स्व-नियामक संस्था है।

एक बयान के अनुसार, स्टार इंडिया के अध्यक्ष उदय शंकर की अध्यक्षता वाले इंडियन ब्रॉडकास्टिंग फेडेरेशन (आईबीएफ) के निदेशक मंडल ने तीन वर्ष के लिए इन तीनों को नियुक्त किया है।

तीन अन्य सदस्यों आईएएस अधिकारी भास्कर घोष, अभिनेत्री शबाना आजमी और पत्रकार वीर सांघवी का कार्यकाल हाल ही में खत्म हुआ है।

2. कार्ड से भुगतान को प्रोत्साहन के उपाय सुझाने को वित्त मंत्रालय ने समिति बनाई 

नकद लेनदेन को हतोत्साहित करने के लिए वित्त मंत्रालय ने एक उच्चस्तरीय समिति गठित की है। यह समिति कर छूट और कैशबैक योजनाओं के जरिये कार्ड से भुगतान को प्रोत्साहन के उपाय सुझाएगी।

इस 11 सदस्यीय समिति के प्रमुख पूर्व वित्त सचिव रतन पी वाटल हैं। समिति कार्ड और डिजिटल तरीकों से लेनदेन को प्रोत्साहन के लिए उपाय सुझाएगी। वित्त मंत्रालय ने कहा कि इन उपायों में कर छूट-प्रोत्साहन, कैशबैक-लॉटरी आदि शामिल हैं।

यह समिति देश में भुगतान प्रणाली की समीक्षा करेगी और डिजिटल भुगतान को प्रोत्साहन के उपाय सुझाएगी। समिति का गठन इस बारे में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल द्वारा फरवरी में लिए गए फैसले के तहत किया गया है। समिति सभी कार्ड-डिजिटल भुगतान का की भुगतान इतिहास बनाने की व्यवहार्यता का भी अध्ययन करेगी और यह सुनिश्चित करेगी कि ग्राहकों-दुकानदारों की इन आंकड़ों तक पहुंच हो।

डिजिटल भुगतान को प्रोत्साहन के लिए विभिन्न कानूनों के तहत यदि नियामकीय व्यवस्था में किसी तरह के बदलाव की जरूरत है, तो समिति उनका अध्ययन करेगी और बदलावों के बारे में सिफारिश करेगी।

इसके साथ समिति यह भी अध्ययन करेगी और सिफारिश देगी कि कैसे कार्ड-डिजिटल लेनदेन में विशिष्ट पहचान नंबर या पहचान के किसी अन्य प्रमाण का इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता। समिति को केंद्रीयकृत केवाईसी रजिस्ट्री स्थापित करने के बारे में भी सुझाव देगी।

समिति इस बारे में नियामकीय अद्चनों की पहचान करेगी और बदलाव को लेकर सुझाव देगी।

3. जामिया के संकाय सदस्य को प्रतिष्ठित विज्ञान पुरस्कार 

जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के जैवप्रौद्योगिकी विभाग के संकाय सदस्य डाक्टर असकंदर इकबाल ने वर्ष 2016 के लिए ‘इंडियन नेशनल साइंस एकेडमी’ का प्रतिष्ठित ‘मेडल फार यंग साइंटिस्ट’ जीता है।

4. एथलीट ललिता, शतरंज खिलाड़ी गागरे को एसजेएएम पुरस्कार 

महाराष्ट्र के छठे शतरंज ग्रैंडमास्टर शरदुल गागरे और स्टीपलचेस एथलीट ललिता बाबर को इस साल मुंबई खेल पत्रकार संघ के स्वर्ण जयंती सालाना पुरस्कार समारोह में सम्मानित किया जायेगा।

अहमदनगर के गागरे को वर्ष के सर्वश्रेष्ठ खिलाड़ी का पुरस्कार मिलेगा जबकि रियो ओलंपिक में दसवें स्थान पर रही ललिता को सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला खिलाड़ी का पुरस्कार दिया जायेगा।

पुरस्कार तीन सितंबर को दिये जायेंगे जिसमें भारत के पूर्व तेज गेंदबाज जहीर खान मुख्य अतिथि होंगे।

मुंबई और भारत के मध्यक्रम के बल्लेबाज अजिंक्य रहाणे को वर्ष के सर्वश्रेष्ठ अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेटर का पुरस्कार मिलेगा जबकि रोहित शर्मा को कोलकाता में 2014 में सर्वोच्च वनडे स्कोर बनाने के लिये विशेष पुरस्कार दिया जायेगा । शरदुल ठाकुर और श्रेयस अय्यर को सर्वश्रेष्ठ रणजी क्रिकेटर का पुरस्कार मिलेगा।

मुंबई क्रिकेट संघ को वर्ष की सर्वश्रेष्ठ टीम का पुरस्कार मिलेगा।

5. PM मोदी ने की घोषणा, अगले 3 ओलंपिक के लिए बनेगा टास्क फोर्स 

रियो ओलंपिक में भारतीय दल के खराब प्रदर्शन को देखते हुए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने ओलंपिक के अगले तीन संस्करण की तैयारी के लिए टास्क फोर्स बनाए जाने की घोषणा की। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि वह चाहते हैं कि आने वाले ओलंपिक खेलों में भारत प्रभावशाली तरीके से शिरकत करे। यह टास्क फोर्स 2020 के टोक्यो ओलंपिक के अलावा 2024 तथा 2028 ओलंपिक खेलों में भागीदारी का खाका तैयार करेगा। टोक्यो के अलावा बाकी के दो संस्करणों के मेजबानों की घोषणा नहीं हुई है।

6. केंद्रीय मंत्री मेनका गांधी ने ‘पॉक्सो ई-बॉक्स’की शुरुआत की 

केंद्रीय महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री मेनका संजय गांधी ने नई दिल्ली में बच्चों को यौन अपराधों से सुरक्षा के लिए पॉक्सो ई-बॉक्स की शुरूआत की.

पॉक्सो ई-बॉक्स एक ऐसा मंच है जहां यौन शोषण से पीड़ित कोई भी बच्चा अपनी शिकायत ऑनलाइन दर्ज करा सकता है. यह पहल, बाल अधिकारों के संरक्षण की राष्ट्रीय संस्था द्वारा बाल यौन शोषण की सीधे ऑनलाइन शिकायत के लिए की गई है.

महिला एवं बाल विकास राज्य मंत्री कृष्णा राज और अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति भी इस अवसर पर मौजूद थे.

• पॉक्सो ई-बॉक्स प्रणाली से संबंधित अपराधों की शिकायत आसानी से की जा सकेगी और इस पर तुरंत कार्रवाई करना सुनिश्चित किया जा सकेगा.

1. RBI retains too big to fail tag for SBI, ICICI Bank 

RBI today retained too big to fail tag for the state-owned SBI and private lender ICICI Bank for the second year in a row, calling them systemically important banks for 2016 requiring higher level of supervision.

In 2015, these two were identified for the first time as the domestic systemically important banks.

Systemically important banks are subjected to higher levels of supervision to prevent disruption to financial services in the event of any failure. Based on the Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs) Framework and data collected from lenders as on March 31, 2016, these two have again been declared D-SIBs in 2016. "RBI has identified State Bank of India (SBI) and ICICI Bank as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs) in 2016 and has retained their bucketing structure as it was last year," the central bank said in a statement. The additional Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) requirement for D-SIBs has to be done in phases. For these two, it has already been phased in from April 1, 2016, and will become fully effective April 1, 2019.

2. SRK, Akshay, Salman, Amitabh in Forbes list of highest paid actors 

Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are among the world’s highest paid actors of 2016, raking as many dollars as Hollywood heavyweights Robert Downey Jr and Brad Pitt, according to a Forbes list topped by wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson.

Shah Rukh, whose repertoire contains films from ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ to ‘Chak De India’, is ranked 8th on the list of 20 of the ‘World’s Highest Paid Actors 2016’, tied with ‘Iron Man’ Downey Jr with earnings of $33 million.

Akshay is tied with Hollywood heartthrob Pitt for the 10th position with earnings of $31.5 million.

‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ Salman is ranked 14th on the list with earnings of $28.5 million, ahead of Oscar-winning actor Leonardo Dicaprio, who is ranked 15th with earnings of $27 million and ‘Independence Day’ star Will Smith who comes in on the 17th spot with $20.5 million.

Bachchan is on the 18th rank with earnings of USD 20 million, ahead of Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey (19) and ’Star Wars’ legend Harrison Ford (20).

The list of the top-earning actors comes days after Forbes released the list of the highest-paid actresses in the world.

Deepika Padukone, 30, made her debut among world’s top 10 highest paid actresses, with earnings of $10 million. She was the only Indian actress and the sole newcomer in the list, coming in at the 10th spot.

In Forbes’ rankings, all of the highest- paid actresses are under 50, while 45 per cent of the actors are 50-plus, with Ford and Bachchan in their 70s.

3. Ronaldo crowned UEFA Best Player in Europe 

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo won the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award after winning both last season's Champions League and Euro 2016 with Portugal.

Ronaldo, received the accolade for the second time in his career after finishing ahead of Real team-mate Gareth Bale and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann.

Ronaldo struck the winning spot-kick as Real claimed a record 11th European Cup title, beating city rivals Atletico on penalties in May, before leading his country to Euro 2016 glory.

Ronaldo scored three goals en route to the final of the tournament to equal France's Michel Platini's record of nine goals in the European Championship finals.

The award was voted for by journalists from each of UEFA's 55 member associations. Norway striker Ada Hegerberg won the women's award, ahead of France's Amandine Henry and Dzsenifer Marozsan of Germany, after helping Lyon lift the Women's Champions League trophy in addition to the French league and cup double.

4. Unified Payments Interface to go live for customers of 21 banks 

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said that its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has started and for now it will go live for customers of 21 banks.

According to NPCI, the UPI application of 19 banks can be downloaded from Google Play Store in next two to three working days.

The list of banks providing the app on Google Play Store are: Andhra Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Bhartiya Mahila Bank, Canara Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, DCB Bank, Federal Bank, ICICI Bank, TJSB Sahakari Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Karnataka Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, South Indian Bank, Vijaya Bank and YES Bank.

According to NPCI, two banks - IDBI Bank and RBL Bank - are on-boarded as issues. The customers of the two banks can download any UPI enabled apps and link their account.

1. स्टेट बैंक, आईसीआईसीआई बैंक का महत्वपूर्ण बैंक का दर्जा कायम 

रिजर्व बैंक ने सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) तथा निजी क्षेत्र के आईसीआईसीआई बैंक को बैंकिंग प्रणाली के लिहाज से महत्वपूर्ण बैंक का दर्जा लगातार दूसरे साल बरकरार रखा है।

केन्द्रीय बैंक ने दोनों बैंकों में निरीक्षण का उच्च स्तर बनाये रखने पर जोर देते हुये कहा है कि इन बैंकों के आकार को देखते हुये इन्हें विफल नहीं होने दिया जा सकता। केन्द्रीय बैंक ने लगातार दूसरे साल ‘विफल होने के लिहाज से बड़े बैंक’ का इनका दर्जा बरकरार रखा है।

वर्ष 2015 में पहली बार इन घरेलू बैंकों को प्रणालीगत तरीके से महत्वपूर्ण बैंक माना गया था। प्रणालीगत तरीके से महत्वपूर्ण बैंकों के लिए उच्चस्तरीय निगरानी की जरूरत होती है, जिससे किसी विफलता की स्थिति में वित्तीय सेवाओं में किसी तरह की बाधा न आए।

घरेलू प्रणालीगत महत्वपूर्ण बैंक :डी-एसआईबी: रूपरेखा तथा 31 मार्च, 2016 तक बैंकों से जुटाए गए आंकड़ों के अनुसार इन दोनों को 2016 में भी डी-एसआईबी घोषित किया गया है।

2. शाहरूख, अक्षय सबसे अधिक पारिश्रमिक पाने वाले अभिनेताओं में शुमार, ‘द रॉक’ शीर्ष पर 

फोर्ब्स पत्रिका ने 2016 की अपनी सूची में बॉलीवुड सितारे शाहरूख खान, अमिताभ बच्चन, सलमान खान और अक्षय कुमार को दुनिया के सबसे अधिक पारिश्रमिक पाने वाले सितारों में शुमार किया है और इनका पारिश्रमिक हॉलीवुड के दिग्गज कलाकार रॉबर्ट डाउनी जूनियर और ब्रैड पिट के बराबर है।

बहरहाल, पत्रिका की इस सूची में पहलवान से अभिनेता बने ड्वेन जॉनसन शीर्ष पर हैं।

पत्रिका के अनुसार ‘दिलवाले दुल्हनिया ले जाएंगे’ से लेकर ‘चक दे इंडिया’ जैसी फिल्में देने वाले शाहरूख ‘वल्र्डस हाइएस्ट पेड एक्टर्स 2016’ की 20 अभिनेताओं की सूची में आठवें स्थान पर हैं और 3.3 करोड़ डॉलर की कमाई के साथ ‘आयरन मैन’ के डाउनी जूनियर शाहरूख के साथ इसी स्थान पर काबिज हैं।

अक्षय 3.15 करोड़ डॉलर की कमाई के साथ हॉलीवुड की सबसे आकषर्क शख्सियत ब्रैड पिट के साथ 10वां स्थान साझा कर रहे हैं।

सूची के अनुसार 2.85 करोड़ डॉलर की कमाई के साथ ‘बजरंगी भाईजान’ सलमान खान ऑस्कर विजेता अभिनेता लियोनाडरे डिकैप्रियो से एक स्थान पहले यानी 14वें स्थान पर हैं, जबकि डिकैप्रियो 2.7 करोड़ डॉलर की कमाई के साथ 15वें स्थान पर हैं और 2.05 करोड़ डॉलर की कमाई के साथ ‘इंडिपेंडेंस डे’ के सितारे विल स्मिथ ने 17वां स्थान पाया है।

दो करोड़ डॉलर की कमाई के साथ अमिताभ बच्चन ने सूची में ऑस्कर विजेता मैथ्यू मैकोनहे :19: और ‘स्टार वार्स’ के दिग्गज कलाकार हैरिसन फोर्ड :20: से पहले यानी 18वां स्थान पाया है।

3. रोनाल्डो को युएफा ने यूरोप का सर्वश्रेष्ठ फुटबालर चुना 

रीयाल मैड्रिड के स्टार फुटबालर क्रिस्टियानो रोनाल्डो को युएफा ने यूरोप का सर्वश्रेष्ठ फुटबालर चुना है जिन्होंने पिछले सत्र में चैम्पियंस लीग और पुर्तगाल के साथ यूरो 2016 खिताब जीता ।

रोनाल्डो को दूसरी बार यह पुरस्कार मिला है। उन्होंने रीयाल मैड्रिड के अपने साथी जेरेथ बाल और एटलेटिको मैड्रिड के अंतोइने ग्रीजमैन को पछाड़ा।

युएफा के सभी 55 सदस्य संघों से पत्रकारों ने मतदान के जरिये विजेता का चयन किया है। सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला फुटबालर का पुरस्कार नार्वे की स्ट्राइकर एडा हेगेरबर्ग को मिला।

4. एनपीसीआई का एकीकृत भुगतान मंच शुरू हुआ 

भारतीय राष्ट्रीय भुगतान निगम (एनपीसीआई) ने कहा कि उसका ‘एकीकृत भुगतान संपर्क-मंच :यूपीआई: शुरू हो गया है और इस समय 21 बैंकों के ग्राहक इसका इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं।

यूपीआई मोबाइल साफ्टवेयर एप्लिकेशन के जरिए धन के भुगतान की एक नयी सुविधा है जिसके तहत आप बिना किसी कार्ड की मदद से अपने स्मार्टफोन से दूसरे पक्ष को धन का भुगतान कर सकते हैं और प्राप्ति की पुष्टि भी कर सकते हैं।

इसमें भुगतान के लिए आभासी पता का प्रयोग किया जाता है। इसमें आप को केवल उस व्यक्ति के यूपीआई की :आईडी: पहचान की जरूरत होती है। उस पर निर्धारित रकम भेज कर आप मोबाइल पिन के जरिए भुगतान की पुष्टि की जा सकती है। इसके लिए बैंक खाता संख्या, शाखा, आईएफएससी कोड आदि की जरूरत नहीं होती।

एनपीसीआई के प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यकारी ए पी होता ने एक बयान में कहा, ‘‘विश्व में कहीं भी मोबाइल ऐप के जरिए इतने बड़े पैमाने पर वास्तविक समय के आधार पर धन भेजने और प्राप्त करने की सुविधा कहीं नहीं है। अब यूपीआई ऐप बैंकों द्वारा गूगल प्ले स्टोर पर उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा।’’ यूपीआई का उपयोग करने वाले बैंकों में आंध्रा बैंक, ऐक्सिस बैंक, बैक आफ महाराष्ट्र, भारतीय महिला बैंक, केनरा बैक, ओरिएंटल बैंक आफ कामर्स, यूनियन बैंक आफ इंडिया और विजया बैंक आदि शामिल हैं।

यूपीआई के सीमित परिचालन की घोषण इस साल अप्रैल में आरबीआई के निवर्तमान गवर्नर रघुराम राजन ने कही थी और इसे पायलट परियोजना के तौर पर कुछ समय तक कर्मचारी-ग्राहकों के बीच चलाया गया।

1. आयुष मंत्रालय और यू.एस. फॉर्माकोपिएल कन्वेंशन के बीच परम्परागत औषधियों की गुणवत्ता बेहतर करने के लिए समझौता 

आयुष मंत्रालय के अधीनस्थ भारतीय औषधि एवं होम्योपैथी के औषधकोश आयोग और अमरीका फॉर्माकोपिएल कन्वेंशन ने नई दिल्ली में परम्परागत औषधि और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पहचान, विकास और विज्ञान आधारित मापदंडों को बढ़ावा देने के क्षेत्र में सहयोग बढ़ाने के लिए सहमति के पत्र (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

2. राष्ट्रपति ने जंगीपुर में फूड पार्क का उद्घाटन किया

राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने मुर्शिदाबाद के जंगीपुर में एक ‘मेगा फूड पार्क ’ का उदघाटन किया। इसका उद्देश्य पश्चिम बंगाल के इस पिछड़े क्षेत्र में किसानों को खाद्य प्रसंस्करण के लिए बुनियादी ढांचा मुहैया कराना है।

मुखर्जी ने पश्चिम बंगाल के राज्यपाल केसरी नाथ त्रिपाठी और केंद्र एवं राज्य के मंत्रियों की मौजूदगी में फूड पार्क का उदघाटन करने के बाद कहा कि नया फूड पार्क खाद्य उत्पादों की बर्बादी को कम करेगा।

3. पारंपरिक औषधियों के लेकर म्यामांर के साथ समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर को सरकार की मंजूरी 

सरकार ने औषधियों की परंपरागत प्रणाली के क्षेत्र में भारत और म्यामांर के बीच समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर को स्वीकृति प्रदान कर दी।

इस समझौते का मकसद म्यामांर में औषधि की परंपरागत प्रणालियों और आयुष को बढ़ावा देने के लिए दोनों देशों के बीच सहयोग के लिए ढांचागत रूपरेखा प्रदान करना है।

4. दीपिका इंडियन साइकैट्रिक सोसाइटी की ब्रांड अंबेसडर बनीं 

बालीवुड अभिनेत्री दीपिका पादुकोण को इंडियन साइकैट्रिक सोसाइटी का ब्रांड अंबेसडर नियुक्त किया गया है। वह मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाएंगी और इससे जुड़ी समस्याओं को कम करने में मदद करेंगी। दीपिका किसी समय खुद अवसाद से जूझ चुकी हैं।

5. हैदराबाद दक्षिण भारत की पहली बाल अदालत का किया गया उद्घाटन 

बच्चों से संबंधित मामलों के त्वरित निस्तारण पर जोर देते हुए दक्षिण भारत की पहली बाल अदालत का उद्घाटन किया गया।

गोवा और दिल्ली के बाद तेलंगाना बाल अनुकूल अदालत वाला तीसरा राज्य बन गया है। यह देश में छठा ऐसा राज्य है जहां बच्चों के लिए प्रतीक्षालय और आरोपियों के लिए वीडियो कैमरा सुनवाई जैसी सुविधाएं हैं, बाल यौन अपराध सुरक्षा (पोक्सो) अधिनियम, 2012 के तहत इसका प्रावधान है।

यहां नामपल्ली आपराधिक अदालत परिसर में बाल अनुकूल अदालत कक्ष का हैदराबाद के उच्च न्यायालय के कार्यकारी मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति रमेश रंगनाथन ओर तेलंगाना के पुलिस महानिदेशक अनुराग शर्मा ने संयुक्त रूप से उद्घाटन किया।

6. अमित सैनन बने यस बैंक के समूह अध्यक्ष 

निजी क्षेत्र के देश के पाँचवें बड़े बैंक यस बैंक ने अमित सैनन को समूह अध्यक्ष एवं मिड कॉर्पोरेट बैंकिंग का कंट्री हेड नियुक्त किया है।

7. भारत की जीडीपी वृद्धि दर इस साल 7.9 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान: गोल्डमैन 

वैश्विक वित्तीय सेवा कंपनी गोल्डमैन साक्स ने कहा कि बेहतर मानसून, सरकारी वेतनमान में वृद्धि, प्रमुख सुधारों और विदेशी निवेश प्रवाह के चलते मौजदूा वित्त वर्ष में भारत की आर्थिक वृद्धि दर 7.9 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान है।

गोल्डमैन साक्स का कहना है कि जीडीपी वृद्धि में क्रमिक सुधार की संभावना है और अप्रैल जून तिमाही में यह मामूली घटकर 7.8 प्रतिशत रह सकती है। इससे पिछली तिमाही में यह 7.9 प्रतिशत रही थी।

1. Ministry of AYUSH and US Pharmacopeial Convention partner to strengthen quality of traditional medicine 

The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy under the Ministry of AYUSH and the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in New Delhi for cooperation in the field of Traditional medicine and to collaborate in the identification, development, and dissemination of science-based standards in this field at an international level.

2. President inaugurates Food Park in Jangipur 

President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated a Mega Food Park at Jangipur in Murshidabad, aimed at providing critical food processing infrastructure to the farmers of this backward belt in West Bengal.

The new food park will minimise the wastage of food products, Mukherjee said after inaugurating the Food Park in the presence of West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and union and state ministers.

3. Govt gives nod to signing of pact with Myanmar on traditional 

The Government gave its nod to signing of a pact between India and Myanmar in the field of traditional system of medicines. The pact aims to provide a structured frame work for cooperation between both the countries and for promotion of AYUSH and traditional systems of medicine in Myanmar.

4. Deepika becomes brand ambassador of Indian Psychiatric Society 

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who herself battled depression, has joined hands with the Indian Psychiatric Society as its brand ambassador to spread awareness about mental health and help reduce the stigma associated with its ailments.

5. South India's first Children’s Court inaugurated in Hyderabad 

Giving a push to fast disposal of cases related to children, south India’s first Children’s Court was inaugurated.

After Goa and Delhi, Telangana has become the third state to have a child friendly court and sixth in the country with features like separate waiting rooms for children and a video camera trial for the accused, mandated under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act-2012.

The child friendly courtroom was jointly inaugurated at the Nampally Criminal Courts Complex here by Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad and Director General of Telangana Police Anurag Sharma.

POCSO stipulates child-friendly court rooms be put in place across all states at the earliest in the interest of children in need of care. However, such courts are currently functional only in two states - Delhi and Goa.

6. YES BANK appoints Amit Sanan as Group President & Country Head, Mid-Corporate Banking 

The country's fifth largest private sector bank YES Bank has appointed Amit Sanan as Group President & Country Head for Mid-Corporate Banking.

7. India's GDP to expand by 7.9% this financial year: Goldman Sachs 

Indian economy is expected to clock 7.9 per cent growth in the current fiscal driven by better monsoon, government pay hike, key reforms and FDI inflows, Goldman Sachs said.

The global financial services major said the GDP is expected to improve gradually and for the April-June quarter it may slow a tad to 7.8 per cent, in part due to unfavorable base. It had grown at 7.9 per cent in the previous quarter.

Krishna Janmashtami is the celebration of the birth of Lord Shri Krishna, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is believed to have been born about five thousand years ago in Mathura in 'Dwapar Yuga'. Krishna Janmashtami is also known as Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami and sometimes simply as Janmashtami. 

It is essentially a Hindu festival. The festival is generally observed on Ashtami tithi, the eighth day of the dark half or Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhadrapada in the Hindu calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatra is ascendant. This is usually in the months of August and September in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and vigor by Hindus all over India and abroad. 

People observe fast the whole day, sing hymns and conduct prayers at midnight to rejoice the birth of Lord. Ras lila, dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna, are a special feature that is showcased in every part of the country, as it re-creates the flirtatious aspects of Krishna's youthful days. Another interesting aspect of Krishna Janmashtami is the practice of Dahi-Handi. This game portrays the playful and mischievous side of Krishna, where teams of young men form human pyramids to reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it.

On the occasion the temples and homes are wonderfully decorated and lightened. Religious hymns are sung at temples. The priests bath the idol with Panchamrita which comprises of water from the holy Ganges River, milk, ghee or clarified butter, curd, and honey pouring all these from a conch shell. Then the idol of infant Krishna is placed in a cradle. Raslilas are performed to remember the childhood memories of Lord Krishna.
