1. भारत, वियतनाम ने परमाणु समझौते एवं तीन अन्य समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किये

भारत और प्रभावशाली पूर्वी एशियाई देश वियतनाम ने असैन्य परमाणु सहयोग समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किया। इस मौके पर प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि इस समझौते से दोनों देशों के बीच समग्र रणनीतिक साझेदारी को मजबूती मिलेगी।

दोनों देशों ने विमानन संपर्क को विस्तार देने, उर्जा दक्षता को लेकर संयुक्त रूप से काम करने और संसदीय सहयोग को बढ़ाने के लिए तीन अन्य समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किये।

लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन और वियतनाम की नेशनल असेंबली की अध्यक्ष गुयेन थी किम गान की मौजूदगी में इन समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।

वियतनामी संसदीय कार्य प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व कर रही गान ने प्रधानमंत्री मोदी से भी मुलाकात की।

मोदी ने कहा कि परमाणु उर्जा के क्षेत्र सहयोग को लेकर हुये इस समझौते से भारत और वियतनाम के बीच समग्र रणनीतिक साझेदारी को मजबूती मिलेगी।

2. कोहली ने आईसीसी वनडे रैंकिंग में दूसरा स्थान कायम रखा 

भारत के विराट कोहली ने बल्लेबाजों की आईसीसी रैंकिंग में अपना दूसरा स्थान बरकरार रखा जबकि आस्ट्रेलियाई सलामी बल्लेबाज डेविड वार्नर उनसे महज दो अंक पीछे तीसरे स्थान पर हैं।

वार्नर पहले कोहली से 62 अंक से पिछड़ रहे थे लेकिन कल मेलबर्न में समाप्त हुई न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ चैपल-हैडली सीरीज में शानदार प्रदर्शन के बाद उन्होंने यह बढ़त महज दो अंक की कर ली जिसमें आस्ट्रेलिया ने 3 . 0 से जीत दर्ज की।

वार्नर तीन मैचों में 299 रन बनाकर सर्वाधिक रन बनाने वाले खिलाड़ी रहे जिससे उन्होंने अपनी तीसरे नंबर की रैंकिंग मजबूत कर ली। दक्षिण अफ्रीका के एबी डिविलियर्स अब भी नंबर एक रैंकिंग पर काबिज बल्लेबाज हैं, वह कोहली से 13 अंक आगे हैं।

नंबर एक स्थान के लिये जद्दोजहद अगले महीने फिर शुरू होगी जब कोहली के इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ 15 से 23 जनवरी तक तीन मैचों की सीरीज में खेलने की उम्मीद है। वार्नर पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ 13 से 26 जनवरी तक होने वाले पांच मैचों की सीरीज में मैदान में उतरेंगे और डिविलियर्स श्रीलंका के खिलाफ 28 जनवरी से 10 फरवरी तक पांच एक दिवसीय सीरीज में दक्षिण अफ्रीका की अगुवाई करेंगे।

न्यूजीलैंड के सलामी बल्लेबाज मार्टिन गुप्टिल और आस्ट्रेलिया की स्टीव स्मिथ, मिशेल मार्श और जोश हेजलवुड की तिकड़ी ने भी कैरियर की उंची रैंकिंग हासिल कर ली है।

1. तेनजिन दोर्जी यूएससीआईआरएफ के आयुक्त नियुक्त

जाने-माने तिब्बती लेखक तेनजिन दोर्जी को ‘‘यूएस कमीशन ऑन इंटरनेशनल रिलीजियस फ्रीडम’’ :यूएससीआईआरएफ: के आयुक्त पद पर नियुक्त किया गया है।

यूएससीआईआरएफ एक स्वतंत्र द्विदलीय संघीय संस्था है जो अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता पर नजर रखती है और इससे संबंधित मामलों की निगरानी करती है।

इस संस्था के आयुक्त पद पर दोर्जी की नियुक्ति सदन के अल्पसंख्यक मामलों की नेता नैन्सी पेलोसी की सिफारिश पर की गई है, जिन्हें तिब्ब्ती मुद्दे को लेकर उनके समर्थन के लिए जाना जाता है।

दोर्जी कैलिफोर्निया स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटी, फुलेटरेन :सीएसयूएफ: के मानव संचार विभाग में एक एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर हैं।

उनका शुरआती शिक्षण और शोध समुदायिक, सांस्कृतिक, पीढ़ीगत संचार, पहचान के मुद्दे, शांति स्थापना और संघर्ष समाधान जैसे विषयों पर आधारित रहा है।

दोर्जी ने तिब्बती संस्कृति, पहचान, संचार व्यवस्था और चीन-तिब्बती संघर्ष में अहिंसा और मध्यम मार्ग के दृष्टिकोण पर लेख व अध्यायों का भी सहलेखन किया है।

साल 2013 के शुरू में उन्होंने भारत के धर्मशाला में दलाई लामा के आश्रम में दो महीनों तक काम किया है और इसके साथ ही उन्होंने देश के विभिन्न शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रमों में भी भाग लिया है।

2. पूर्व सीनेटर, अंतरिक्ष यात्री जॉन ग्लेन का निधन

अमेरिका के पूर्व सीनेटर एवं अंतरिक्ष यात्री जॉन ग्लेन का ओहायो में निधन हो गया। ग्लेन पृथ्वी की कक्षा में जाने वाले पहले अमेरिकी थे। वह 95 वर्ष के थे।

पूर्व अंतरिक्ष यात्री कुछ वर्ष पहले आघात होने के बाद से स्वास्थ्य संबंधी समस्याओं से जूझ रहे थे। उनका वर्ष 2014 में हृदय वाल्व प्रतिरोपण ऑपरेशन भी हुआ था। ओहायो स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटी के जॉन ग्लेन कॉलेज ऑफ पब्लिक अफेयर्स के संचार निदेशक हैंक विल्सन ने ग्लेन के निधन की पुष्टि की।

तीन बार पृथ्वी की परिक्रमा कर चुके ग्लेन अंतरिक्ष में जाने वाले अमेरिका के तीसरे अंतरिक्ष यात्री थे। वह कक्षा में जाने वाले पहले अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष यात्री थे।

3. नेपाल टेलीकॉम, चाइना टेलीकॉम ग्लोबल ने इंटरनेट सेवा समझौता किया

इंटरनेट के लिए नेपाल की भारत पर निर्भरता को कम करने के लिए चीन की एक प्रमुख कंपनी चाइना टेलीकाम ग्लोबल व सरकारी कंपनी नेपाल टेलीकॉम ने एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

इस समझौते के तहत दोनों देशों के बीच सीमापारीय इंटरनेट प्रोटोकाल सेवा उलपब्ध कराई जाएगी।

दोनों कंपनियों ने मंगलवार को हांगकांग में इस समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए। उल्लेखनीय है जून में दोनों देश आप्टिकल फाइबर के जरिए आपस में जुड़े थे। इस तरह से इंटरनेट के मामले में नेपाल की भारत की निर्भरता टूटी है।

4. विस्तार ने सेबी के पूर्व प्रमुख सी बी भावे को गैर-कार्यकारी चेयरमैन नियुक्त किया

सूक्ष्म, लघु एवं मझोले उद्यम :एमएसएमई: केंद्रित विस्तार फाइनेंशियल सर्विसेज ने सेबी के पूर्व प्रमुख सीबी भावे को गैर-कार्यकारी चेयरमैन और स्वतंत्र निदेशक नियुक्त किया है। कंपनी ने एक बयान में यह जानकारी दी।

भावे वर्ष 2008-11 के दौरान भारतीय प्रतिभूति एवं विनिमय बोर्ड :सेबी: के चेयरमैन थे। उससे पहले, वह नेशनल सिक्योरिटीज डिपोजिटरीज लि. :एनएसडीएल: के चेयरमैन और प्रबंध निदेशक रहे।

1. India, Vietnam sign N-pact, three other agreements

In a significant development, India and influential East Asian nation Vietnam signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserting that it will further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two countries also signed three other agreements -- to enhance aviation links, to jointly work in the area of energy efficiency and promotion of parliamentary cooperation.

The four pacts, aimed at boosting the relations, were signed here in presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and visiting President of Vietnam's National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan after their talks on enhancing the ties.

2. Virat Kohli retains second spot in ICC ODI batsmen rankings

India's Virat Kohli retained his second spot in the latest ICC Player Rankings for ODI Batsmen but Australian opener David Warner was breathing down his neck with just two points behind in the chart issued.

Warner cut Kohli's earlier 62 point lead to just two following a stellar performance in the Chappell-Hadlee series against New Zealand, which concluded in Melbourne on Friday with Australia winning 3-0.

Warner finished as the leading run-getter with 299 runs in three matches to consolidate his number three ranking. South Africa's AB de Villiers is still the number one ranked batsman with 13 points ahead of Kohli.

The fight for the No.1 ranking will resume next month when Kohli is expected to feature in the three-match series against England (January 15-23), Warner will take the field against Pakistan in the five-match series (January 13-26) and de Villiers is set to lead South Africa in the five-ODI series against Sri Lanka (January 28 to February 10).

Meanwhile, New Zealand opener Martin Guptill and Australia's trio of Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazelwood have all achieved career-high rankings.

Guptill has been rewarded for his 193 runs in the series with a rise of two places, which has put him in sixth position, Smith has jumped six places to 10th following series contribution of 236 runs, Marsh has gained three places to rise to 22nd position, while Hazlewood has vaulted 12 places to join Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi in 11th position following six wickets in the series.

1. Tenzin Dorjee appointed as Commissioner of USCIRF 

Tenzin Dorjee, a well-known Tibetan writer, has been appointed as Commissioner to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), an independent, bipartisan federal body that monitors religious freedom internationally. 

The appointment of Dorjee to the USCIRF was made on recommendation of the House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi, who is well known for her support to Tibetan cause. 

Dorjee is an Associate Professor at the Department of Human Communication Studies, California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). 

His primary teaching and research interests include intergroup, intercultural, intergenerational communication, identity issues, peace building, and conflict resolution. 

Dorjee has also authored and co-authored peer-reviewed articles and chapters on Tibetan culture, identity and communication, non-violence and middle way approaches to Sino-Tibetan conflict. 

Earlier in 2013, he volunteered for over two months at the office of Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India, and has been part of various educational programmes in the country. 

A former Member-At-Large in the Executive Council of the Western States Communication Association (WSCA), he was also the President of the Tibetan Association of Southern California. 

2. Former senator, astronaut John Glenn dies at 95 

Former US Senator and astronaut John Glenn, who became the first American to orbit the earth, has died in Ohio. He was 95. 

Glenn, who circled the earth three times, was the the third US astronaut in space. He was the first to get into orbit. 

Known for his small-town decency and calm heroics, Glenn was the last survivor of the original Mercury 7 astronauts 

He later served for nine years as a Democratic senator from Ohio. 

On February 20, 1962, when Glenn rocketed into space, it was momentous and nerve-racking. Space travel was in its infancy. Every launch and mission captivated the imagination of America 

He made history a second time in 1998, when he returned to space decades later at the age of 77 only to become the oldest person sent into space. 

Glenn was a highly-decorated Marine who flew 59 combat missions in the South Pacific during World War II. During the Korean War, he flew 90 combat missions, using different models of new jet fighters. 

In 1974, he was elected to represent Ohio in the US Senate. Two years later, Glenn's name was among those running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Jimmy Carter, but Carter ended up picking Sen Walter Mondale of Minnesota. 

He also campaigned in the Democratic primary for the 1984 presidential election, but ended up losing to Mondale. 

He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honour, in 2012, by President Barack Obama. 

3. Nepal Telecom, China Telecom Global sign internet service deal 

Aiming to reduce Nepal’s dependence on India for its internet connectivity, a leading Chinese company and Nepal's state-owned Nepal Telecom have signed an agreement on providing cross-border internet protocol service between the two countries. 

The agreement signed in Hong Kong between China Telecom Global and Nepal Telecom (NT) comes after the two countries were connected with optical fibre through the Geelong (Keyrong) -Rasuwagadhi border point in June, ending Nepal’s sole dependence on India for connecting it with global telecom and internet services. 

Geelong Port (Kerung) of China will be used as the route for providing the internet service, Chinas state-run Xinhua news agency reported, quoting a statement from Nepal Telecom. 

4. Vistaar appoints ex-Sebi chief C B Bhave as non-exec Chairman 

Vistaar Financial Services, an MSME-focused financing firm, has appointed former Sebi chief C B Bhave as non-executive Chairman and Independent Director. 

Bhave was the Chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for a period of three years during 2008-11, prior to which he was the Chairman and Managing Director of National Securities Depositories Ltd (NSDL). 

Vistaar Finance has a loan portfolio size of Rs 1,000 crore and currently has 198 branches primarily in rural and semi-urban areas spread across 135 districts and 12 states.

1. New Zealander to head UN mission in South Sudan

David Shearer, member of New Zealand's parliament has been nominated to head of the UN Mission in South Sudan.

2. Justice Saqib Nisar appointed as new chief justice of Pakistan

President Mamnoon Hussain appointed Justice Saqib Nisar as the new chief justice of Pakistan.

Nisar, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, will replace chief justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali who retires on December 31.

Earlier this year, when Jamali went for pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, Nisar had served as the Acting Chief Justice.

Nisar was born on January 18, 1954 in Lahore and obtained an undergraduate degree in law from University of Punjab.

In 1982, Justice Nisar became an advocate of the High Court and advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1994. He was then elevated as the Judge of the High Court in 1998 and of the Supreme Court in 2010.

Nisar has also worked as a part-time lecturer at Punjab Law College and Pakistan College of Law, where he taught Civil Procedure Code and the Constitution.

Outgoing Justice Jamali served for 15 months after he was appointed in September 2015.

3. Donald Trump is Time magazines Person of the Year 2016

US President-elect Donald Trump was named by Time magazine as its Person of the Year 2016 for his stunning victory in the presidential polls, describing him as "President of the Divided States of America".

Trump was chosen by Time editors for the annual honour from among world leaders, artists, corporate tycoons and path-breaking organisations as the person who had the greatest influence, for better or worse, on the events of the year.

Trump, who has appeared on various covers of Time magazine, will now be on its cover as Person of the Year, with the sub-headline President of the Divided States of America.

The first runner-up is Trumps rival in the presidential elections and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who Time said made history for three decades as an advocate, a First Lady, a Senator, and a Secretary of State, but she will now be remembered as much for what she didn't do as what she did.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the 11 candidates shortlisted by Time for its annual honour.

Modi won the online reader’s poll conducted by Time magazine for Person of the Year 2016, the second time he emerged winner of the reader’s choice poll.

4. IOC, BPCL, HPCL sign deal to set up India's biggest oil refinery

Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corp signed a pact to build India's biggest oil refinery at a cost of $30 billion on the west coast.

1. न्यूजीलैंड के सांसद बनेंगे दक्षिण सूडान में संयुक्त राष्ट्र मिशन के प्रमुख

न्यूजीलैंड के सांसद डेविड शियरर को दक्षिण सूडान में संयुक्त राष्ट्र मिशन का प्रमुख बनाने के लिए नामित किया गया है।

2. न्यायमूर्ति साकिब निसार पाकिस्तान के नए प्रधान न्यायाधीश नियुक्त

पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति ममनून हुसैन ने न्यायमूर्ति साकिब निसार को पाकिस्तान का नया प्रधान न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया।

उच्चतम न्यायालय के वरिष्ठतम न्यायाधीश निसार प्रधान न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति अनवर जहीर जमाली की जगह लेंगे। जमाली 31 दिसंबर को सेवानिवृत्त हो रहे हैं।

साल की शुरूआत में जमाली जियारत के लिए सउदी अरब गए थे, उस दौरान निसार ने कार्यवाहक प्रधान न्यायाधीश की जिम्मेदारी निभायी थी।

लाहौर में 18 जनवरी, 1954 में जन्मे निसार ने पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय से विधि-स्नातक की डिग्री ली।

निसार 1982 में उच्च न्यायालय के वकील बने और 1994 में वह पाकिस्तान उच्चतम न्यायालय में वकील बने। 1998 में उन्हें उच्च न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश बनाया गया और 2010 में वह उच्चतम न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश नियुक्त हुए।

निवर्तमान न्यायमूर्ति जमाली 15 महीने इस पद पर रहे, उनकी नियुक्ति सितंबर 2015 में हुई थी।

3. डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ‘टाइम पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर’ चुने गये

अमेरिका में हिलेरी क्लिंटन को मात देकर राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचित होने वाले डोनाल्ड ट्रंप को टाइम पत्रिका ने ‘पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर-2016’ चुना और उनको ‘डिवाइडेट स्टेट्स ऑफ अमेरिका’ (विभाजित राज्य अमेरिका) का राष्ट्रपति करार दिया।

पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर चुने जाने के बाद अब ट्रंप पत्रिका के मुख्य पृष्ठ पर नजर आएंगे जिसका उप-शीषर्क ‘प्रेसीडेंट ऑफ डिवाइडेड स्टेट्स ऑफ अमेरिका’ होगा।

इस खिताब के लिए उन्हें विश्व नेताओं ,कलाकारों ,कारपोरेट क्षेत्र के दिग्गजों और कुछ खास करने वाले संगठनों के बीच से चुना गया है जिनका इस साल की घटनाओं पर अच्छा या बुरा विशेष प्रभाव रहा ।

पत्रिका ने कहा कि व्यवस्था विरोधी व लोकलुभावनवादी के तौर पर प्रचार करने के बाद 70 साल के ट्रंप अमेरिका के 45वें राष्ट्रपति चुने गये और उनके निर्वाचन के साथ उस प्रचार अभियान का अंत हुआ जिसमें बार बार राजनीतिक परिपाटी भंग हुई।

4. आईओसी, बीपीसीएल, एचपीसीएल ने देश की सबसे बड़ी तेल रिफाइनरी की स्थापना के लिए करार किया

इंडियन आयल कारपोरेशन :आईओसी:, भारत पेट्रोलियम कारपोरेशन :बीपीसीएल: तथा हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कारपोरेशन :एचपीसीएल: ने पश्चिमी तट पर 30 अरब डालर की लागत से देश की सबसे बड़ी तेल रिफाइनरी की स्थापना के लिए करार पर दस्तखत किए हैं।

1. Panneerselvam sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for third time

Amidst a pall of gloom following Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s death, senior AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam was elected the leader of the Legislature Party shortly and sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

2. Jayalalithaa passes away

J JAYALALITHAA, the iconic Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who scorched a lonely, often controversial, road from cinema to an almost mythic political status among her followers, who mastered the art of the comeback despite setbacks electoral and legal, passed away.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ms Jayalalithaa introduced a number of pro-poor schemes in various fields, including education, food security, provision of safe drinking water, the girl child etc. Her life was dedicated to the socio-economic transformation of Tamil Nadu and its people.

3. Exim Bank chief named Addl Secretary Niti Aayog

Yaduvendra Mathur, Chairman and Managing Director of Export-Import Bank of India (Exim), has been appointed as Additional Secretary in Niti Aayog.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved appointment of Mathur, a 1986 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, to the new post. "The officer would assume charge of the post on completion of his tenure as CMD, Exim Bank," an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.

Besides him, nine other bureaucrats have been appointed to various ministries. Of these officers, seven are from Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and rest from other services.

Another senior IAS officer Malini Shankar has been appointed as Director General of Shipping, trusted with implementation of shipping policy and legislation so as to ensure the safety of life and ships at sea. She is at present working in her cadre state--Maharashtra.

P V Ramesh Babu will be chief of Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC), a listed Navratna public sector enterprise mandated to finance and promote power sector projects all over the country.

Babu, a 1985 batch IAS officer, is working in his cadre state-- Andhra Pradesh.

Sanjiv Mittal, an officer of Indian Defence Accounts Service, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Mittal is Secretary, Oil Industries Development Board.

Rabindra Panwar and Anshu Prakash have been appointed as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in Home and Rural Development ministries respectively.

Nagesh Singh, an officer of Indian Economic Service, has been also appointed as Additional Secretary in Department of Rural Development.

Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Madhu Mahajan has been appointed as Member Secretary, National Commission for Women.

The post of Financial Adviser BSF in the Ministry of Home Affairs held by V Venugopal has been upgraded as Additional Secretary level post.

Senior IAS officer R K Vats will be Additional Secretary in Health Ministry.

4. BS Bhullar appointed aviation regulator

Senior bureaucrat B S Bhullar was appointed chief of aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

He is presently working as Additional Secretary in Civil Aviation Ministry.

The post has been lying vacant for past over four months after M Sathiyavathy, first woman chief of the aviation regulator, was named as new Union Labour Secretary in July this year.

Sathiyavathi, a 1982-batch IAS officer of the union territories cadre, was in September last year appointed as the Director General of Civil Aviation.

5. Bernard Cazeneuve appointed French PM after Manuel Valls' resignation

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve was appointed as the new prime minister after Manuel Valls resigned to seek the Socialist nomination in the presidential election, the presidency said.

Cazeneuve, who has overseen the security forces' reaction to a string of jihadist attacks that have killed more than 230 people in France over the past two years, will take control of the Socialist government until legislative elections in June.

1. पनीरसेल्वम ने तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली

अन्नाद्रमुक प्रमुख जे जयललिता के निधन के बाद ओ पनीरसेल्वम ने तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली। यह उनका इस पद के लिए तीसरा कार्यकाल है।

2. तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री जयललिता का निधन

तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री जे जयललिता का एक निजी अस्पताल में निधन हो गया। वह गत 22 सितंबर से अपोलो अस्पताल में भर्ती थीं।

जयललिता राज्य की एक लोकप्रिय नेता थीं, जिन्होंने अपने लोकलुभावन कार्यक्रमों से गरीबों का दिल जीता और पिछले तीन दशक से प्रदेश की राजनीति में एक ध्रुव थीं।

3. एक्जिम बैंक के प्रमुख होंगे नीति आयोग के अतिरिक्त सचिव

भारतीय निर्यात-आयात बैंक (एक्जिम बैंक) के चेयरमैन और प्रबंध निदेशक यदुवेन्द्र माथुर को नीति आयोग में अतिरिक्त सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है।

मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति ने 1986 बैच के राजस्थान कैडर के आईएएस अधिकारी के नये पद पर नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है।

इसमें से सात भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के तथा शेष अन्य सेवाओं के हैं।

अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी मालिनी शंकर को पोत परिवहन में महानिदेशक नियुक्त किया गया है। वह फिलहाल अपने कैडर राज्य महाराष्ट्र में काम कर रही हैं।

पी वी रमेश बाबू ग्रामीण विद्युतीकरण निगम लि. :आरईसी: के नये प्रमुख होंगे।

1985 बैच के आईएस अधिकारी बाबू अपने कैडर राज्य आंध्र प्रदेश में काम कर रहे हैं।

भारतीय रक्षा लेखा सेवा के अधिकारी संजीव मित्तल को सांख्यिकी और कार्यक्रम क्रियान्वयन मंत्रालय में अतिरिक्त सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है। मित्तल फिलहाल तेल उद्योग विकास बोर्ड में सचिव हैं।

रबीन्द्र पंवार और अंशु प्रकाश को गृह एवं ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालयों में क्रमश: अतिरिक्त सचिव और वित्तीय सलाहकार नियुक्त किया गया है।

भारतीय आर्थिक सेवा के अधिकारी नागेश सिंह को ग्रामीण विकास विभाग में अतिरिक्त सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है।

भारतीय राजस्व सेवा की अधिकारी मधु महाजन को राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग में सदस्य सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है।

गृह मंत्रालय में वित्तीय सलाहकार बीएसएफ पद को अतिरिक्त सचिव बनाया गया है। यह पद वी वेणुगोपाल के पास है।

वरिष्ठ आईएएस अधिकारी आर के वत्स स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय में अतिरिक्त सचिव होंगे।

4. बीएस भुल्लर बने नागर विमानन महानिदेशक

भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी बीएस भुल्लर को नागर विमानन महानिदेशक :डीजीसीए: नियुक्त किया गया। 

वह अभी नागर विमानन मंत्रालय में अतिरिक्त सचिव पद पर कार्यरत हैं। यह पद एम सत्यवती के सेवानिवृत्त होने के बाद से खाली पड़ा था। सत्यवती पहली महिला विमानन विनियामक थीं। उन्हें जुलाई में श्रम सचिवत बना दिया गया।

कार्मिक विभाग ने कहा है कि भुल्लर को डीजीसीए के पद पर नियुक्त किए जाने की मंजूरी मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति संबंधी समिति ने दी है।

5. वाल्स के इस्तीफे के बाद बर्नार्ड केजेनोव बने फ्रांस के प्रधानमंत्री

फ्रांस के गृहमंत्री बर्नार्ड केजेनोव को नया प्रधानमंत्री नियुक्त कर दिया गया।

राष्ट्रपति पद के चुनाव में सोशलिस्ट पार्टी के उम्मीदवार के रूप में मैदान में उतरने की खातिर फ्रांसीसी प्रधानमंत्री मैनुअल वाल्स ने इस्तीफा दे दिया था।

सोशलिस्ट सरकार की कमान केजेनोव के हाथ में आई है जिन्होंने बीते दो साल में फ्रांस में हुए जिहादी हमलों के बाद सुरक्षा बलों की कार्रवाई की निगरानी की थी। इन हमलों में 230 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी।

जून में पार्लियामेंट के चुनाव होंगे तब तक सरकार की कमान वही संभालेंगे।

आज सुबह वाल्स ने राष्ट्रपति फ्रांस्वा ओलांद को इस्तीफा सौंप दिया था जिसके बाद केजेनोव को प्रधानमंत्री नियुक्त किया गया।

ओलांद के कार्यालय की ओर से कहा गया कि वाल्स का इस्तीफा स्वीकार कर लिया गया है।

अपने आक्रामक भाषण में 54 वर्षीय वाल्स ने कंजर्वेटिव विपक्ष और धुर दक्षिणपंथी नेशनल फ्रंट से लड़ने का संकल्प लिया। ये दोनों ही चुनाव में सोशलिस्ट से आगे चल रहे हैं।

ओलांद ने चार दिन पहले घोषणा की थी कि केवल एक कार्यकाल के बाद वह पद छोड़ देंगे और वाल्स के लिए राष्ट्रपति पद हासिल करने की राह खोल देंगे।

1. PM Narendra Modi wins Time's Person of the Year online readers’ poll

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won the online reader's poll for TIME Person of the Year. PM Modi beat other world leaders, artists and politicians as the most influential figure in 2016.

Modi has won the popular vote but the Time magazine's editors will decide the final Person of the Year. But the online vote has given an idea how the world see these personalities.

Modi won with 18 per cent of the total votes polled in the survey, which closed Sunday at midnight.

PM Modi was well ahead of his closest contenders, including Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Julian Assange, who all received 7 per cent of the "yes" vote. Hillary Clinton got 4 per cent of the votes.

Modi was placed far ahead of Facebook founder and immensely popular online personality Mark Zuckerberg, who got only 2 per cent.

Commenting on the poll results, the Time magazine said, "In recent months, Modi saw high approval ratings from Indians, according to a September Pew poll, and ratified the Paris Climate Change Agreement."

The magazine also factored in the demonetisation decision taken by the government. Time commented, "Modi has come under scrutiny recently for getting rid of 500- and 1,000-rupee notes, impacting cash-based businesses and threatening India's economy."

The analysis of poll results showed varying pattern of choices in different parts of the world. Poll host Apester found that "preferences differ across the world and the United States."

According to Apester, Modi performed particularly well among Indian voters as well as those in California and New Jersey.

2. New Zealand Prime Minister John Key resigns

John Key, the New Zealand prime minister and leader of the National party, has resigned in a decision that has taken the country by surprise.

Key is widely regarded as one of the most popular prime ministers in New Zealand’s history. He was first elected in 2008, and recently marked his 10-year anniversary as leader of the National party.

3. MMTC to tie-up with SBI to sell govt minted 'Indian Gold Coin'

Public sector company MMTC will tie-up with the State Bank of India (SBI) to sell government-minted "Indian Gold Coin", its Chairman and Managing Director Ved Prakash said.

The state-run bullion trader, which has already tied up with over half a dozen banks, has so far sold one lakh pieces of "Indian Gold Coin" and has set a target of selling 5 lakhs units in the next few years. The coin is available in denominations of 5gm, 10gm and 20 gm bar.

These lenders are Indian Overseas Bank, Vijaya Bank, Federal Bank, Yes Bank, Andhra Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.

The coin is being sold to customers through their 400 designated branches across the country, he said.

MMTC will now enter into a similar agreement with the country's largest lender, Prakash said, adding the coin is also available at all the 383 outlets of the PSU.

Prakash was in the city yesterday to preside over an event at 10th global trade show organised by the Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industries (VCCI).

The coin is India's first-ever sovereign gold offering and the only one to be hallmarked by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for purity.

4. Armaan wins Pro Am title in Super Trofeo Series

Indian racer Armaan Ebrahim and his Sri Lankan teammate Dilantha Malagamuwa concluded their 2016 racing season on a high by winning the Pro Am Championship in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series. 

The duo also took the third position in the Pro category, courtesy their consistent performances through the year.

In Round 6, Armaan and Dilantha finished third in the morning race and fourth in the afternoon one to garner enough points to clinch the title. 

5. Mukesh Kumar lifts Panasonic Open, becomes oldest Asian Tour winner

India’s Mukesh Kumar became the oldest golfer to win an Asian Tour title when he lifted the weather-hit Panasonic Open here after it was curtailed to 54 holes.

The 51-year-old Mukesh, who has 123 PGTI titles under his belt, turned in a two-under 70 in the final round to total 10-under 206 to claim the trophy — his first on the Asian Tour.

In fact, India dominated the top half of the leader borad with Jyoti Randhawa and Rashid Khan sharing the second position, a stroke adrift of Mukesh.

Both Randhawa and Rashid carded four-under 68 in the final round.

Honey Baisoya took the sole fifth spot with a five-under 67 in the final round which left him with a total of seven-under 209.
